Twin-wire former for producing a fibrous web. The former includes two endless wire belts arranged to form a twin-wire zone, a dewatering element, and a headbox positioned at an angle relative to an imaginary first horizontal plane. The twin-wire zone includes a first section in which the two wire belts are arranged to run over the dewatering element. The two wire belts are further positioned to form a wedge-like inlet gap that is structured and arranged to receive a fibrous stock suspension directly from the headbox. Additional dewatering elements are utilized. The twin-wire zone includes a second section in which the two wire belts along with the fibrous web formed between the two wire belts are arranged to run downward over the additional dewatering elements. Twin wire former

The invention relates to a twin wire former () for producing a fibrous web (), in particular a paper, cardboard or tissue web, from a fibrous suspension according to the generic terms of claim 1. The twin wire former () is characterized in that, the two wire belts () run upwards after a passing a first deviation device (), forming an angle (&#x3b2;) relative to an imaginary second horizontal plane (H), in such a way that the upper vertex (.SO) of the second deviation device () lies above the lower vertex (.SU) of the first deviation device (), and that the angle (&#x3b4;) relative to the imaginary first plane (H) runs downwards.

A wire section for forming a multi-ply fiber web. The wire section includes a first belt which advances a first fiber ply toward a couch roll defining a combining section. A twin-wire zone of the wire section includes first and second wires between which a second fiber ply is initially formed in a gap former. The second wire separates from the first wire and then the first wire supporting the second fiber ply meets the first belt supporting the first fiber ply at the couch roll of the combining section to form the multi-ply fiber web. The twin-wire part is arranged upstream of the combining section along the running direction of the first belt. The second fiber ply runs on the first wire into the combining section at an angle less than 90&deg; with respect to the belt entering the combining section. The path of the wires from the forming roll to the combining section is disclosed. A suction box or arrangement holds the second fiber ply to the first wire when the first and second wires separate. Dewatering foils press on the wires moving through the twin-wire zone.

Process for forming a multi-ply fiber web

Headbox of a paper machine and a process of supplying a material suspension, The headbox includes at least one material suspension supplying system, and a headbox nozzle that includes a first dividing wall having a machine width and a second dividing wall having a machine width. The first and second dividing walls are arranged to form a first path in which a total nozzle cross-section steadily and continually decreases in a material flow direction and to form a second path, arranged to follow the first path, in which a total nozzle cross-section continually increases in the material flow direction. The process includes includes accelerating the material suspension along a first path having a total nozzle cross-section that steadily and continually decreases in a material flow direction, and decelerating the material suspension along a second path having a total nozzle cross-section that continually increases in the material flow direction. The second path is arranged to follow the first path.

This invention pertains to an elongated gap or extended nip press comprised of two pressing elements whose pressing areas are pressed against each other, wherein each of the press areas is formed of a band-shaped jacket element, with the jacket element moving around carriers and being supported by at least one support element, wherein a change of the length of the press gap or nip and/or of the pressure distribution or pattern in the press gap is accomplished in that the portions of the press elements that form the support surfaces and/or that the support elements of at least one of the pressing elements are displaceable in or against the direction of rotation of the respective jacket element.

Process for modifying an existing breast box for a paper or cartonmaking machine as well as an intermediate portion for carrying out the process. During the fabrication of a breast box for a paper or cartonmaking machine an intermediate portion is interposed between a supply apparatus and a downstream guiding device, with the material suspension flowing through this intermediate portion wherein, via supply lines, located on the intermediate portion, a liquid is added which differs from that of the suspension stream. Particularly, in this manner, already existing breast boxes can be converted, to water dilution technology, with this invention setting forth special embodiments of differing intermediate portions that can be utilized therefor.

Process for modifying a breast box for a paper or cartonmaking machine

A drying section of a paper machine includes a plurality of individual drying groups, wherein the drying cylinders of a drying group are served by 2 respective dryer wire or felt that passes over drying cylinders of the drying group and presses a web to be dried against the surface of the drying cylinders. The invention is adapted for either single tier or double tier drying groups. At least one press roll is disposed between and separates two of the drying groups. In one embodiment, the at least one press roll forms a nip with the adjacent drying cylinder, either upstream or downstream, to define a dewatering nip through which the web passes. A dewatering belt passes over the press roll in the nip. The wire for a respective drying group is guided away from the dewatering nip so that only the web and the dewatering belt pass through the press nip. In alternate embodiments, two press rolls may be disposed between the adjacent drying groups, and the two press rolls define a press nip between them. A respective dewatering belt passes over each of the press rolls. One of those press rolls may also be in contact with and define a press nip with the adjacent drying cylinder in the adjacent drying group. An open draw free path may be defined between one of the press rolls and the adjacent drying cylinder.

In a double wire former of a paper machine, a first continuous wire (1) is fed onto an at least partially curved guiding surface (4) so as to converge with a second wire (2), wherein the guiding surface (4) is movable in a form-locked manner relative to the wires. After the dewatering section described above, a further guiding surface (7) follows which, in advantageous embodiments, has an opposite sense of curvature and is fixedly located.

Double wire former

A drying section of a papermaking machine includes several drying groups with at least one drying screen each. At the end of one drying group and/or at the beginning of the next following drying group, a finishing roller is utilized. A finishing nip is formed between one of two finishing rollers and a finishing roller and a drying cylinder of an adjacent drying group. Only the paper web is conveyed through the finishing nip.

The proposed multilayer head box for a paper machine or similar is constructed so that it can produce a wide jet consisting of at least three individual jets (5, 5', 5') The individual jets are fed through separate channels (3, 3', 3') and emitted out of the head box and subsequently combine to form a single wide jet. The individual channels are so constructed that further outer lying jets can be diverted sufficiently after having been emitted out of their respective channel, so that they meet the respective further inner lying partial stream at a very slight angle. The problem of separation when the partial streams are diverted as well as that of undesired lateral mixing when the partial streams are combined are thereby prevented.

In order to regulate dewatering of the fiber suspension and the formation of the paper web between the upper and lower wires of the papermaking machines, upper ledges are provided along with the upper wire. These upper ledges are particularly constructed so as to have uniform design. Between these upper ledges, there is left free the same distance or spacing. This distance is not smaller than the width of each upper ledge. The individual distances between the upper ledges can be closed by insertable inserts so that the dewatering can be forcibly accomplished at mutually separated zones. Along the lower wire, there are provided lower ledges at a table, and between these lower ledges, it can be adjusted varying distances or spacing therebetween. The mutual distance or spacing between the lower ledges, according to a favorable construction, is always greater than the width of the individual upper ledges plus the distance or spacing of an upper ledge from the next neighboring upper ledge. The lower ledges can be mounted at the table so as to be lengthwise displaceably and individually adjustable in the direction of the lower wire. The table can be selectably positioned vertically as well as horizontally relative to the lower wire. All of these measures also can be accomplished during operation of the papermaking machine. The individual lower ledges are elastically supported against the table and this table is elastically supported against its foundation. It is possible to undertake the web forming operation, during operation of the papermaking machines, in accordance with technological requirements and the time wise as well as localized situations, while protecting the paper web which is to be formed and equally the equipment which is to be operated.

Method of using a forming section of a papermaking machine

The wet section of a twin wire papermaking machine is provided with an open forming roll at the lower wire and with the combination of a suction box at the lower wire and a vacuum suction box at the upper wire. Furthermore, by selecting the elevational position or level of the individual wire sections there can be obtained particularly advantageous conditions for the operation of the papermaking machine throughout a wide field of application, especially heavy types of paper at relatively low operating velocities of the papermaking machine. Gap-former and hybrid-former constructions of the papermaking machine are possible.

Wet section for a twin wire papermaking machine

The stock stream of a pre-cleaned paper stock suspension is sub-divided into extremely small partial jets in a chamber of a compartment. Each such partial jet or stream has a throughflow volume of approximately 50 liters/min. to 80 liters/min. and is directed with great turbulence against an impact wall within the closed chamber of the compartment at jet velocities in the order of about 10 m/sec. to 12 m/sec. and at an absolute pressure of about 0.5 to 0.8 bar absolute, the partial jets then being completely sprayed at such impact wall. The paper stock suspension which is to be deaerated has as large as possible surface area, so that the air is efficiently released at a negative pressure or vacuum of approximately 0.05 bar prevailing in the chamber and then can be suctionally removed. The division of the stream of the paper stock suspension into partial jets is accomplished by a distributor through which extends a predetermined number of throughflow openings defined by bores. The throughflow openings each have, for example, the shape of a stepped constricting or widening diffusor. Turbulence-generators can increase the action of the stepped diffusors.
