Disclosed is modified silica filler material wherein the silica filler material has been surface treated with both an alkyl silane and an alkenyl silane. The modified silica filler material, when included in an elastomeric composition, results in lower compression set and improved mechanical properties including viscosity, tensile strength, modulus and elongation. The filler material can be used at high levels in elastomeric compositions and does not raise the viscosity to unusable levels. The elastomeric composition including the modified filler material finds special use in the formation of gaskets for fuel cells.

Heat curable elastomer compositions

The present invention relates to liquid dual curing (moisture) and photocuring adhesives which are optically transparent/clear. More particularly, the present invention relates to liquid optically transparent/clear adhesives having at least one photo- and/or heat-curable polyolefin-based oligomer, with or without a moisture-curable polyolefin-based oligomer; a curative package to trigger and/or accelerate cure of the oligomer(s) under appropriate cure conditions; and at least one polyolefin-based polyurethane that is not reactive under the cure conditions with the photo- and/or heat-curable polyolefin-based oligomer or the moisture-curable polyolefin-based oligomer. The present invention also relates to optical assemblies that include such optically clear adhesives.

Dual curing optically transparent adhesive compositions

The present invention is directed to compositions useful for maintaining sealing force over time while under compression in compressive gaskets. Additionally, methods of preparing and using the sealing compositions and improving sealing performance using such compositions are provided.

(Meth)acrylate-functional polyacrylate resins with narrow but bimodal molecular weight distributions

The present invention relates to multi-functional polymeric resin blends which have a defined average molecular weight distribution. Additionally each polymeric component of the blend has a polydispersity of from about 1.01 to about 2.50. The average functionality of the blend is from about 1.8 to about 4.0. More particularly, the present invention relates to poly(meth)acrylates having three or more functional groups. These highly functionalized resin blends are desirably prepared using controlled free radical polymerization techniques, such as single electron transfer living radical polymerization (SET-LRP) processes to produce a variety of blended resin systems which have tailored and enhanced properties.

Fluid resistant silicone compositions for sealing magnesium alloy components

The present invention relates to dual curing silicone compositions which are capable of cross-linking when subjected to ultraviolet (&ldquo;UV&rdquo;) or visible (&ldquo;VIS&rdquo;) light and/or by a moisture condensation method. When cured, these compositions have excellent adhesion to a variety of substrates. These are particularly useful in potting and coating applications.

Dual curing silicone compositions

The present invention provides silicone compositions, cured elastomers thereof demtonstrate improved resistance to oil. The compositions include a reactive silicone component, wherein the silicone component cures by way of an addition cure mechanism or a condensation cure mechanism; and a basic filler component to confer oil resistance to the cured elastomer. Where the reactive silicone component cures by way of an addition cure mechanism, an addition cure catalyst is also included. To that end, in one embodiment of the invention, the composition includes a vinyl-terminated silicone fluid, a hydrogen-functionalized silicone fluid; a basic filler to confer oil resistance to the cured elastomer and an addition cure catalyst. In another embodiment of the invention, the composition includes a hydroxy-terminated diorganopolysiloxane, a precipitated calcium carbonate, at least about 5% by weight of a composition comprising magnesium oxide particles having a mean particle size of about 0.5 &mgr;M to about 1.5 &mgr;M and a mean surface area of about 50 M /g to about 175 M /g and a crosslinker.

Oil resistant compositions

Vibration dampening hydrosilation cured silicone formulations which cure at room temperature and, after a subsequent heat cure cycle, provide good primerless adhesion to aluminum and titanium substrates and improved adhesion to polymeric composite materials such as polyimide/glass fiber composite materials. The composition includes (a) a polyorganosiloxane having plural alkenyl groups thereon; (b) a polyorganosiloxane having plural silicon hydride groups thereon; (c) a hydrosilation catalyst, and (d) a combination of adhesion promoter compounds including at least one silane adhesion promoter compound; triallyl isocyanurate; and diallyl maleate. Still further improvements to polyimide substrates are provided when a primer is employed or the substrate is treated by a very brief exposure to a flame or to UV irradiation.
