A traction drive elevator system includes a device to enhance the traction forces between the ropes as the traction sheave. As a result, the traction force is the sum of the traction force caused by the tension in the ropes and the traction force caused by the traction enhancement device.

Device for enhancing elevator rope traction

The input axle (1) of an elevator machine transmits a rotational movement to an output axle (13) by means of a conventional worm gear/ring gear device (10), (11) or similar device, the output axle (13) penetrating a sheave (12) which carries the cable that suspends a cabin. The output axle (13) is supported by at only two points (3,4) which are collateral to the sheave (12), and has a projecting end that penetrates and supports the ring gear (11).

Geared elevator machine

An elevator speed and positioning device includes an elongated member and a rotating disk. The elongated member includes an apparatus for indicating position along the member and the disk includes an apparatus for communicating the indicating apparatus. A constant relationship exists between the elongated member and the disk such that relative positions between the two are repeatable. The relative motion between the elongated member and the disk may be quantified to determine the relative position of the elevator car.

Elevator speed and position indicating device

The device is applicable to elevator telescopic two-speed doors, using either two panels with opening towards one side or else using four panels with opening in the center. The rolling device comprises linear ball bearings mounted on a single circular track which together provide a sliding apparatus for the doors. The rolling device further comprises a case for enclosing the sliding apparatus to minimize the intrusion of foreign objects such as dirt and dust.

Roller-track systems for telescopic doors on elevators

An hydraulic elevator utilizes a double acting cylinder to drive a counterweighted elevator upwardly and downwardly. The weight of the counterweight is approximately equal to the weight of the car plus 50% of the duty load of the elevator.

Advanced energy saving hydraulic elevator

The device is applicable to elevator telescopic two-speed doors, using either two panels with opening towards one side or else using four panels with opening in the center, the rolling device being foreseen to be mounted on a single track as a sliding guide. The rolling device includes a case which encloses rollers and counter rollers which roll along the track. The case is formed from two parts connected together and to a bracket on the door by a pair of fasteners. The fasteners form the axles of the rollers. The track can be circular in section and the rollers can be linear ball bearings.

The improvments are applicable to elevator doors and even to doors of vehicles, either made out of two leaves which move in the same direction for the opening and closing thereof, or made out of four leaves each pair of the four leaves opening in the center. The improvements are centered on the use of a single track for both leaves or door panels, a track which may have a rectangular or circular section, located in a box with rolling or movement components which are fastened to the corresponding hanger support of the panel or door. Another improvement consists of the two panels of the door being exactly the same, each one of them including a sound absorbing element. The door frame unit is removable with preassembled active elements so that the same may be transported in a compact, easy manner from the factory to the place of use.

Simplified automatic telescopic doors for elevators

Guide rails for a cantilevered elevator are mounted in the elevator hoistway on structural components of the building. The mounting assembly provides for an increased number of guide rail securement points in the hoistway without the need for increasing the number of structural components directly built into the building. Increased resistance to lateral deflection of the guide rails is thus achieved without requiring heavier than normal guide rails.

An elevator drive has an electric motor 12 which drives a worm 30 that drives a gear 20,28 on a shaft 22, at right angles to the worm 30. The output shaft is in the horizontal plane, and an elevator rope sheave 10 is attached to this shaft 22. The shaft 22 is mounted on two bearings 32,36, at opposite ends of a single piece case 14. The drive is assembled by first inserting the gear 20,28 through the side of the case 14, then inserting the shaft 22 through one end of the case through the gear 20,28 and into the bearing 36. Then a thrust plate 40 is tightened down on the end of the shaft 22 to hold the shaft in place on the bearing's inner race and also thrust the gear 20,28 onto the shaft 22. The worm 30 is then inserted through the top of the case 14. Both shaft support bearings 32,36 are machined on the same axis.
