An antenna is provided for operation across multiple frequency bands. The antenna includes, in order, a ground plane and a first conductive member separated from the ground plane. The antenna also includes a pair of second conductive members forming, with the first conductive member, a resonant structure sized to resonate at a higher frequency band of the multiple frequency bands. The antenna further includes a pair of third conductive members forming a resonant structure sized to resonate at a higher frequency band of the multiple frequency bands. The first conductive member is sized to resonate at a lower frequency band of the multiple frequency bands.

Various example embodiments describe a method comprising the steps of: obtaining, channel strengths between access points, APs, and areas covered by the APs; determining from the obtained channel strengths, propagation losses between the areas; identifying first pairs of areas with lower propagation losses and second pairs of areas with higher propagation losses; selecting, from the first pairs of areas, candidate areas for deploying mesh-operated APs; and determining, from the second pairs of areas, coverage by the respective mesh-operated APs when deployed in one or more of the candidate areas.

According to an aspect, there is provided an antenna arrangement. Said antenna arrangement comprises two or more feed antennas adapted to transmit and receive radio signals. The two or more feed antennas comprise at least a first feed antenna adapted to operate in a first frequency band and a second feed antenna adapted to operate in a second frequency band, where the first and second frequency bands being discontiguous with each other. Moreover, the antenna arrangement comprises an antenna radome arranged around the two or more feed antennas. Said antenna radome comprises a metallic section implementing an antenna reflector for the two or more feed antennas and a nonmetallic section penetrable by radio waves.

A method, system, and device are provided for increasing the total amount of useful information transmitted in a radio communication system. The method includes receiving a selection signal with which a cluster is selected; receiving data streams of information from at least two subscribers so that the streams have identical characteristics; dividing the data streams into a plurality of bit streams in order to form bit groupings through the selection of at least one bit from each one of said bit streams, for the purpose of carrying out the allocation of a state to each one of the groupings formed. Each state is associated with the cluster selected. Thereafter, the components that define the states are transmitted using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM).

Method and system for increasing the total amount of useful information (throughput) transmitted in a radiocommunication system

System that allocates a carrier frequency to a radio link, for transmitting data bursts between a remote unit and a fixed unit, by employing orthogonal frequency division multiplexing OFDM. The fixed unit records a predetermined number of parameters relative to the communication in course, for the purpose of weighting said parameters, such as number of errors in the radio link and number of retransmissions or the like, and allocates to these parameters a probability level. The fixed unit allocates a probability level to each carrier frequency, so that it responds to a communication set-up request allocating the carrier frequency with the highest probability.

Adaptive equaliser

Based on a phase lock loop structure, having a reference signal generator (1), a first phase detector (2), a low pass filter (3), a VCO (4) and a frequency divider (5), in order to achieve a faster channel switching an maintain the design of the filters to be as simple as possible, a second phase detector (6) is provided that receives the reference signal (9) and a second output signal (11) coming from the frequency divider (5) and shifted 90.degree. with respect to its other output signal (10), and that generates a second phase error signal (13), in quadrature with the first phase error signal (12), that is filtered by a second low pass filter (7) thereby generating a second filtered phase error signal (15). The two filtered phase error signals (14,15) are provided to a quadratic correlator (8) whose output is provided to the VCO (4). Its amplitude is proportional to the difference of frequencies between the reference signal (9) and any of the output signals (10,11) from the frequency divider (5).
