A method for applying a sealing agent to a surface of an internal cavity of a pneumatic tire includes inserting an optoelectronic device into the internal cavity and rotating the tire at least 360 degrees about a first axis to acquire captured images and perform a three-dimensional surface scan of various portions of the surface that are uniformly distributed 360 degrees about the first axis, and thereby identify x, y, and z reference coordinates of various points into which each portion is divided as a function of the respective images. An interior surface profile is determined from the images and the identified reference coordinates, an applicator device including a nozzle is inserted into the internal cavity, and the applicator device is driven as a function of the identified three-dimensional reference coordinates of the entire internal cavity to maintain a constant distance between the applicator device and the surface.

A method and a system for applying a sealing agent to the surface of an internal cavity of a pneumatic tyre provided with an optoelectronic device provided with at least one sensor element able to acquire images of the entire surface and to provide signals indicative of the plurality of captured images; an electronic processing system connected to the optoelectronic device to acquire the signals that are indicative of the plurality of captured images and to process them in order to determine the surface profile of the entire internal cavity as a function of the respective images; and an applicator device to apply a strip of sealing agent to the surface; wherein the applicator device is connected to the electronic processing system, which is configured to drive the applicator device as a function of the surface profile of the entire internal cavity.

A machine and method for applying a tread to a carcass of a tire; the machine has a rotary drum supporting the carcass, a feed conveyor for feeding the tread to the rotary drum, a pressure roller contacting the tread, an actuating device for pushing the pressure roller against the tread with a force of adjustable intensity, and a control unit for regulating the intensity of the force as a function of an error variable calculated as the difference between the length of the remaining portion of the circumference of the carcass, and the length of the remaining portion of the tread; and the control unit regulates the intensity of the force by means of a proportional control block having a gain varying as a function of the value of the error variable and as a function of the rate of change of the error variable.
