The present application describes a signal conveying system including plural cables and a feedthrough assembly. The feedthrough assembly includes a main housing. The assembly also includes at least one housing positioned within the main housing with an internal wall that defines a plurality of conduits. The assembly also includes a volume defined by an internal surface of the main housing. The assembly further includes a sealing material provided in the volume. The application also describes a method of conveying optical signals.

Feedthrough assembly and method of assembling a feedthrough assembly

A feedthrough assembly includes a main housing, a first inner housing positioned within the main housing and defining a plurality of first inner conduits, a second inner housing positioned within the main housing and defining a plurality of second inner conduits, and a chamber defined by an internal surface of the main housing, a first end of the first inner housing, and a first end of the second inner housing that faces the first end of the first inner housing. Each of the plurality of first inner conduits is aligned with a corresponding one of the plurality of second inner conduits. A cross-sectional area of the chamber varies along a longitudinal axis of the main housing.

A method of optical communication having improved security is described. The data content of an initially provided data signal is apportioned among two or more distinct optical wavelength channels. A transmitted signal spans these two or more channels. A respective portion of the data content of the transmitted signal is allocated to each of the optical wavelength channels. In certain embodiments of the invention, each such portion comprises data placed in the pertinent wavelength channel during assigned time windows.
