The invention relates to a method for biological treatment of water, wherein macromolecular carbohydrates are added to the water to be treated, optionally together with vitamins and other additives, whereby a great reduction in residues is already achieved after adding small amounts of macromolecular carbohydrates, for example 0.4 to 600 mg/kg BSBor 0.014 to 14 mg/kg dry activated sludge daily.

Method for biological treatment of water by adding macromolecular carbohydrates

A method is described for the biological cleaning of waste water, in which the waste water and gas are supplied to a reaction vessel () containing micro organisms through a two-component nozzle () which consists exclusively of two steady mutually concentric tubes, the nozzle having no additional supply elements and projecting into the reaction vessel and into the waste water therein along its vertical axis. The internally located gas-conveying inner tube of the two-component nozzle () is surrounded through the intermediary of a free annular gap by the outer tube conveying the waste water which is delivered by means of a pump (). The gas ends within the outer tube at a spacing from the outlet opening () thereof which is greater by at least a factor of '5' than the internal diameter of the outer tube in the vicinity of the outlet opening ().

Method for biologically purifying waste water

A process and apparatus for the biological purification of waste water. The process includes the steps of providing a reaction tank having microorganisms therein. The reaction tank has at least one vertically arranged guide pipe therein. The guide pipe has open upper and lower ends, and is positioned so that the lower end is located at a distance from a bottom of the reaction tank. The waste water and a gas are supplied to the reaction tank to form a mixture. The supplying step includes the step of supplying the waste water under pressure to the guide pipe at the upper end, and the step of supplying the gas separate from the waste water at at least two positions into the guide pipe. The at least two positions are located at different levels and at positions downstream of the upper end, relative to a flow direction of the waste water. The mixture of the waste water and the gas are moved in the reaction tank in a cycle that passes through the guide pipe. The apparatus provides for a device that can perform the process.

Process for the biological treatment of waste water

The present invention relates to a reactor for biological purification of pollutant-containing water in a closed vessel by means of loop operation. This vessel contains, disposed vertically and concentrically with respect to its jacket and to each other, an insertable pipe that is open at both ends, into which a nozzle projects for the purpose of supplying the water-gas-biomass mixture to be purified, and a guide pipe that is open at both ends and that forms an inner annulus with the internal insertable pipe and an outer annulus with the reactor jacket. This guide pipe projects above and below the ends of the insertable pipe. A deflector plate is mounted below the insertable pipe but inside the guide pipe, so that part of the biomass-water mixture is deflected back into the inner annulus. A conically shaped sedimentation chamber is disposed in the lower part of the reactor.

Biological purification loop device and method having deflector plate

The invention relates to an installation for aerobic biological purification of pollutant-containing water, which installation consists of an axial-flow submerged reactor and a sedimentation tank for separation of the biosludge from the purified water. The reactor is a pipe containing a two-stage activated-sludge chamber, which pipe contains (a) a first activated-sludge stage in which a driving-jet nozzle is disposed at the downstream end for the dispersion of the air and the microorganisms in the waste water to be purified, and (b) a second activated-sludge stage in which internals are disposed for homogeneous dispersion of the gas bubbles and the microorganisms as well as for immobilization thereof.
