A surface light guide for a light of a motor vehicle. The surface light guide includes a light coupling section which is directly or indirectly connected to a light decoupling section. The light decoupling section includes a first flat side, a second flat side which is arranged opposite to the first flat side, a light decoupling surface which is arranged on the first flat side, and a decoupling structure which is arranged on the first flat side or on the second flat side. The decoupling structure has a plurality of individual and spaced-apart light decoupling elements. The decoupling structure deflects light rays which are coupled in by an illuminant so that deflected light rays are emitted through the light decoupling surface. The light coupling section couples in light rays from the illuminant and mixes the coupled-in light rays.

An illumination apparatus for a motor vehicle comprises: a light source, an optical waveguide with an incident surface and a reflective region; and a hologram arranged on or in the optical waveguide. The illumination apparatus is configured such that light emitted by the light source enters the incident surface of the optical waveguide in the direction of the reflective region, is reflected by the reflective region inside the optical waveguide in the direction of the hologram and interacts with the hologram. The average distance between the light source and the incident surface is at least half as great as the average distance between the reflective region and the hologram.

A taillight for a motor vehicle, comprising a light guide element, a light source, and a light emission surface. The light source emits light in the direction of a first end of the light guide element. The light guide element is designed to guide the light from the first end in the direction of a second end. The light guide element is designed to output a part of the light between the first end and the second end through the light emission surface to an environment of the taillight. The light guide element has a curved region in which the light guide element is curved away from the light emission surface. The taillight also comprises a reflector designed to reflect light emitted by the light guide element in the direction of the light emission surface. The reflector being arranged directly adjacent to the curved region.

A transitional area between the optical components a screening element extends in such a way that scattered light emitted by the first light source that does not hit the allocated first optical component is prevented from hitting the adjacent second optical component and such that, vice versa, scattered light emitted from a second light source that does not hit the second optical component is prevented from hitting the first optical component.

A lighting apparatus for vehicles with a housing sealed by a transparent covering panel, containing a light source unit and an optical unit for producing a predetermined light function, wherein the optical unit has a hologram element and/or diffractive element in which diffraction information for producing the light function is contained, wherein optics are disposed downstream of the hologram element and/or the diffractive element in the light beam path, so that light of different orders of diffraction emerging from the hologram element and/or the diffractive element produce different light functions.
