A method for key refreshment in a wireless network system using a salt. The method includes receiving, from each of a plurality of secondary nodes communicably coupled to a primary node, a current session number. The current session numbers are compared to a session number at the primary node to identify a mismatch, and a salt is generated responsive to identifying the mismatch. The method further includes sending the salt to each of the plurality of secondary nodes having a current session number matching the session number at the primary node.

Salted key refreshment in wireless battery management systems

A method includes determining by a primary node a network formation process to establish a network with a secondary node according to a network condition of the primary node and the secondary node, the secondary node previously paired to the primary node in a previously established network connection between the primary node and the secondary node, performing by the primary node a scanning phase as part of the network formation process with the secondary node according to network configuration information stored by the primary node and the secondary node and obtained by the primary node and the secondary node in the previously established network connection; and skipping by the primary node a pairing phase of the network formation process with the secondary node responsive to the secondary node being previously paired to the primary node in the previously established network connection.

Network formation in wireless systems

A vehicular battery management system (BMS) comprises a battery controller, a set of battery cells, a primary network node coupled to the battery controller, and a secondary network node coupled to the set of battery cells. The primary and secondary network nodes are configured to wirelessly communicate with each other using frames that share a common frame format. The frame format includes one or more bits and a status of the one or more bits indicates whether the secondary network node is to communicate with the primary network node on behalf of another secondary network node.

A communication circuit includes network formation circuitry configured to establish a wireless network between a primary wireless transceiver and a secondary wireless transceiver. In at least some examples, the instructions are executable by a controller to cause the controller to broadcast, in a data frame, a scan request to a node, the scan request including a certificate of the controller and a public authentication key of the controller, receive, in the data frame, a scan response from the node, the scan response including a certificate of the node and a public authentication key of the node, and perform pairing between the controller and the node based on the public authentication key of the node and a private authentication key of the controller.

A communication circuit for communications between a controller and a subsystem with a monitored electrical component is described. The communication circuit includes network formation circuitry configured to establish a wireless network between a primary wireless node adapted to be coupled to the controller and a secondary wireless node coupled to the subsystem. The communication circuit also includes data transfer circuitry configured to perform data transfers between the primary wireless node and the secondary wireless node. The communication circuit further includes data integrity circuitry configured to: generate a hash for data received by the communication circuit; and verify the hash before the data transfer circuitry performs a data transfer of the data between the primary wireless node and the secondary wireless node.
