A method for performing a drilling operation of a well in a subterranean formation is disclosed. The method includes obtaining drilling data records each including a revolutions per minute (RPM) value, a weight on bit parameter (WOB) value, and a rate of penetration (ROP) value, analyzing, using a computer processor, the drilling data records to generate a maximum point including a maximum ROP value that is based on a predetermined percentile of an ROP distribution of the drilling data records, generating, using the computer processor and based on the maximum point and a current point, a recommendation point including a recommended RPM value and a recommended WOB value, where the current point includes a current RPM value, a current WOB value, and a current ROP value of the drilling operation, and presenting, to a user, the recommendation point to facilitate the drilling operation.

Rate of penetration (ROP) optimization advisory system

Systems and methods for cooling an electronics compartment of a downhole tool include a tool assembly. The tool assembly is an elongated member formed of axially aligned tool units. The tool units include a turbine and the electronics compartment. The electronics compartment has an interior cavity containing electronics components. The tool units further include a compressor powered by the turbine. The compressor is operable to compress a coolant fluid. The compressor has a central heat exchanger operable to cool a non-electrically conductive fluid with the coolant fluid. An impeller is rotated by the turbine. The impeller is operable to circulate the non-electrically conductive fluid past the electronics components.

Applied cooling for electronics of downhole tool

Methods and systems for determining slip velocity of drill cuttings obtained from subsurface formations are disclosed. The system includes a first cylindrical tube having a first diameter and a first length, wherein the first tube is attached to a base plate, a second cylindrical tube having a second dimeter smaller than the first diameter and a second length larger than the first length, the second tube attached to a lower portion of the first tube and running substantially parallel to the first tube, and an ultrasonic device operatively connected to an opening of the second tube for measuring a level of a fluid in the second tube, and a computer operatively connected to the ultrasonic device, the computer configured to store and analyze data received from the ultrasonic device.
