A remote network management platform manages a managed network. The managed network may contain computing devices for executing applications. The remote network management platform may also include a database storing a graph that represents the computing devices, the applications, and relationships therebetween. A computing device may be configured to generate and provide a graphical user interface that includes: (i) a panel containing an active copy of the graph read from the database, (ii) a first selectable control that creates an editable, private copy of the graph and replaces the active copy of the graph in the panel with the editable, private copy of the graph, and (iii) a second selectable control that updates the active copy of the graph with the editable, private copy of the graph, saves the active copy of the graph as updated to the database, and displays the active copy of the graph as updated.

Distributed editing and versioning for graphical service maps of a managed network

An embodiment may involve a managed network containing computing devices. The computing devices may be respectively associated with unqualified domain names. One or more server devices may be disposed within a remote network management platform that manages the managed network. These server devices may be configured to: probe the managed network, by way of a proxy server application disposed within the managed network, to obtain information related to applications operating on the computing devices, network connectivity of the computing devices, and representations of the unqualified domain names; obtain a regular expression; determine a subset of the computing devices in the managed network on which a particular application is operating and for which the respectively associated unqualified domain names match the regular expression; and generate a map of the managed network in which the subset of the computing devices is represented as a grouped node instead of individual nodes.

Automatic grouping of similar applications and devices on a network map

A system for generating a node map including current and historical information regarding a condition of a component of a computing infrastructure is disclosed. The system includes a server including a processor and a memory that includes instructions executable by the processor to receive an event associated with the condition of the component, wherein the event includes an event time and indication of a severity associated with the event, determine an impact value on the component based on the indication of the severity associated with the event, generate a time series datum in a time series data store, for the component, based on the event time and the impact value, and generate the node map that includes a node representative of the component including a node icon having, associated with the component, a first indicator of the impact value and a second indicator of historical impact values based on the time series data store.
