Data recovery systems and methods utilize object-based storage for providing a data protection and recovery methodology with low recovery point objectives, and for enabling both full recovery and point-in-time based recovery. Data generated at a protected site (e.g., via one or more virtual machines) is intercepted during write procedures to primary storage. The intercepted data is replicated via a replication log, provided as data objects, and transmitted to an object based storage system. During recovery, data objects may be retrieved through point-in-time based recovery directly by the systems of the protected site, and/or data objects may be provided via full recovery, for example, within a runtime environment of a recovery site, with minimal data loss and operation interruption by rehydrating data objects within the runtime environment via low-latency data transfer and rehydration systems.

Disaster recovery systems and methods with low recovery point objectives

The various implementations described herein include methods and systems for automatic management of data access acceleration in a computer system executing a plurality of clients. The method includes: receiving data access commands from two or more clients to access data in objects identified by the data access commands; and processing the data access commands to update access history information for portions of the objects identified by the data access commands. The method further includes: in accordance with the access history information, automatically identifying and marking for acceleration the portions of the objects identified by the data access commands that satisfy an access based data acceleration policy; and accelerating the object portions marked for acceleration, including accelerating data writes and data reads of the object portions to and from the persistent cache, where the persistent cache is shared by the two or more clients.

One embodiment is a method of installing a block-level write tracking driver in a Microsoft Windows&#x2122; operating system so that no reboot of the system is need, another embodiment is a method of installing a block-level write tracking driver in a Linux operating system so that no reboot of the system is needed, and still another embodiment is a method of tracking block-level writes to snapshots under newer Microsoft Windows&#x2122; operating systems.
