Techniques are provide for passive positioning of user equipment (UE) with analog beamforming. An example method for positioning a user equipment includes receiving a first positioning reference signal from a first base station at a first time, receiving a first timing difference value based on two or more positioning reference signals transmitted from the first base station, receiving a second positioning reference signal from a second base station at a second time, receiving a second timing difference value based on two or more positioning reference signals transmitted from the second base station, and determining a time difference of arrival between the first positioning reference signal and the second positioning reference signal based at least in part on the first timing difference value and the second timing difference value.

Passive positioning with analog beamforming

A user equipment includes: an interface; a memory; and a processor, communicatively coupled to the interface and the memory, configured to: receive a plurality of requests to process a corresponding plurality of positioning reference signal (PRS) groups, each of the plurality of PRS groups having respective PRS characteristics; determine a priority for processing the plurality of PRS groups according to at least one priority criterion; determine whether a total amount of the PRS characteristics of the plurality of PRS groups exceeds a PRS processing capability of the processor; select, in response to the total amount of the PRS characteristics exceeding the PRS processing capability of the processor, a subset of the plurality of PRS groups based on the priority for processing; and process the subset of the plurality of PRS groups to determine position information.

Positioning reference signal processing

In an aspect, a relay UE transmits sidelink reference signals for positioning (SL-RS-P) off first and second reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs). The target UE measures the reflected SL-RS-Ps. In an aspect, the SL-RS-Ps may be associated with configurations that are configured by a base station. In an aspect, a position estimation entity may obtain measurement information associated with the reflected SL-RS-Ps and determine a position estimate of the target UE based at least in part upon the measurement information.

Sidelink reference signal for reconfigurable intelligent surface aided positioning

Disclosed are techniques to determine a position of a user equipment (UE). In an aspect, the UE receives a plurality of positioning reference signals (PRS) from a plurality of cells. The UE determines a plurality of time of arrivals (TOA) of the plurality of PRSs, and prunes the plurality of TOAs based on the plurality of PRSs. The UE then derives a time difference of arrival (TDOA) vector from the pruned TOAs. The TDOA vector includes multiple TOA related measurements of multiple cells. The UE prunes the TOAs such that the cells represented in the TDOA vector are sufficiently geographically dispersed to determine the position of the UE at least in 2D.

Simplified cell location information sharing for positioning purposes

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment may select one or more transmission types for communication on a plurality of beams during a time period based at least in part on transmission type priorities, and communicate on the plurality of beams during the time period based at least in part on selecting the one or more transmission types for communication. In some other aspects, a base station may receive an indication of one or more transmission types that a user equipment selected for communication on a plurality of beams during a time period and receive the one or more transmission types the UE selected for communication on the plurality of beams. In some further aspects, a network node for wireless communications may determine configuration information for a positioning reference signal, PRS, operation by a user equipment and transmit the configuration information to a base station that schedules communications for the UE. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Transmission type selection for beam switching

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for systems that use resource bandwidths within one or more bandwidth parts (BWPs). Such resource bandwidths may be configured in one or more BWPs to support relatively fast switching and allow enhanced flexibility for communications within a BWP. Within one or more BWPs, downlink reference signal resources of a first resource bandwidth may be associated with one or multiple uplink resources of a second resource bandwidth, and precoding for uplink communications in the one or multiple uplink resources may be calculated based on the associated downlink reference signal resources. Additionally or alternatively, abeam used for uplink communications may be provided to the UE in transmission control information (TCI). Further, in some cases, multiple disjoint subsets of uplink frequency resources within a resource bandwidth may use different beams, according to an indication provided in TCI.

Uplink reference signal techniques for non-codebook-based wireless communications

Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, a positioning entity receives a beam report from a network entity, the beam report including beam shape assistance information for one or more downlink transmit beams of a base station, the one or more downlink transmit beams corresponding to positioning reference signal resources to be measured by a user equipment (UE), the beam shape assistance information indicating at least one basis function representing a beam shape of each of the one or more downlink transmit beams or a quantization of a reduced portion of each of the one or more downlink transmit beams, and determines a location of the UE based at least on signal strength measurements of the positioning reference signal resources and the beam shape assistance information.

A method of cross validating a positioning reference signal includes: measuring, at a first UE, a first PRS resource to determine a first PRS measurement; receiving, from a second UE via sidelink communication, a second PRS measurement of a second PRS resource; and determining whether at least one of the first PRS measurement or the second PRS measurement is unreliable based on a relationship of the first PRS measurement to the second PRS measurement.

A method of sending sounding reference signals includes: reporting delay shift information from a user equipment to a network entity, the delay shift information indicative of a second sounding reference signal having a delay shift relative to a first sounding reference signal; sending the first sounding reference signal from a first antenna of a plurality of antennas of the user equipment to the network entity; and sending the second sounding reference signal from a second antenna of the plurality of antennas of the user equipment to the network entity with the delay shift relative to the first sounding reference signal.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which user equipment (UE) may provide a capability indication to one or multiple transmission reception points (TRPs) that indicates whether the UE is capable of performing Doppler pre-compensation. One or more of the TRPs may transmit configuration information to the UE to configure Doppler pre-compensation for subsequent communications. The UE may indicate that multiple Doppler shifts for a single communication with multiple TRPs is supported, or that a single Doppler shift or no Doppler shift is supported. The UE, when Doppler pre-compensation is supported and configured, may estimate one or more Doppler metrics (e.g., a Doppler shift, a maximum Doppler spread, or both) for one or multiple TRPs based on one or more reference signals from the TRPs, and may transmit one or more uplink communications based on the estimated Doppler metrics.

A method of sending measurement information from a user equipment includes: measuring a reference signal: producing a measurement report payload based on measurement of the reference signal: encoding the measurement report pay load in accordance with ASN.1 (Abstract Syntax Notation One) encoding, and in accordance with a lower-layer protocol to produce an encoded payload, the lower-layer protocol being either a physical-layer protocol or a MAC-layer (Medium Access Control layer) protocol; and sending a lower-layer message based on the encoded pay load from the user equipment to a network entity.

This disclosure provides methods, devices, and systems for full-duplex communications in wireless networks. Some implementations more specifically relate to multiple bandwidth parts (BWPs), active concurrently, for communications in a given direction (such as a downlink (DL) direction or an uplink (UL) direction) between a user equipment (UE) and a base station. For example, a first active BWP may be used for DL or UL communications in a half-duplex (HD) slot and a second active BWP may be used for DL or UL communications in an adjacent full-duplex (FD) slot. In some implementations, the UE may further change a status of one or more active BWPs after a given amount of time has elapsed. For example, the UE may change the states of an active BWP by deactivating the active BWP, switching the active BWP to a default BWP, or changing a role assigned to the active BWP.

Aspects relate to mechanisms for measuring the interference on the sidelink for use in calculating the channel quality indicator (CQI) in channel state information (CSI) reporting. Channel state information-interference measurement (CSI-IM) resources on which a sidelink device may measure the interference may be located outside of a bandwidth allocated for the transmission of a physical sidelink shared channel (PSSCH) and/or inside of the allocated bandwidth.
