A transmission chain for a conical disk transmission with intercoupled links receiving link pins of which the end surfaces bear against the disks, and in which the contact zones between the longitudinal sides of the pins and the links are shorter than the upright sides of the link openings and offset in longitudinal direction of the links with respect to the ends of these sides.

Clamping device having clamping members cooperating via a pressure area and an intermediate member with a pressure member, the intermediate member consisting of a slide member having a cross section in the form of a segment of a circle, a plane surface cooperating with the pressure area and a circular arc-shaped surface in a corresponding seating provided in the associated clamping or pressure member.

The disclosure concerns a transmission chain. The chain may be used in a transmission with conical disks (not shown). The chain comprises a number of links intercoupled by hinge pins extending through openings in the links. The interacting surfaces of each link are, on the one hand, one of the sides of each of the openings of the links coupled by a hinge pin and, on the other hand, one of the opposite curved side surfaces of a single hinge pin.

A method of providing transverse elements to be arranged in a consecutive series side by side on a driving belt with curved surfaces by which they support the driving belt. The surfaces obtain a curvature by replacing the driving belt by an endless grinding band having grinding material on its inner side engaging the said surfaces and running the whole on two pulleys, one of which has a smaller diameter than the other one. The grinding band has longitudinal zones with different abrasing capacities, for example by providing the band with a longitudinal range of gaps in its middle zone. In this way the supporting surfaces obtain simultaneously a curvature in the running direction of the belt and in a direction opposite thereto.

Method of curving supporting surfaces of driving belt elements

A vessel comprising a pair of laterally spaced elongated buoyancy hulls and vertically mounted thereon a plurality of hollow columns, distributed around the outer circumferential area of the vessel and supporting a work platform above the water level when the hulls are submerged, the hulls containing water ballast compartments. The platform supports one or more heavy duty cranes, adapted for outboard handling of loads. At the lower end of the columns, air chambers are provided in open connection with the surrounding water at their bottom ends. At their upper ends these chambers have air valves for discharging air from and supplying air to the chambers selectively controlled by directions from a computer which is added to the crane operating device. Sensors and other measuring instruments are provided, such as, for continuously gauging the water levels in the different air compartments, the air pressure therein and the water pressure at the exit of these compartments to the open water, the top and swivel angles of the cranes, the hilt of the vessel and the weight of the crane loads. The data measured by these instruments are introduced into the computer which controls the regulator air valves and thereby the water levels in the different air chambers whereby the vessel is maintained substantially on an even keel during load handling by the cranes.

A wheel-bogie for supporting a crane, said bogie comprising a load-carrying foot, a main frame, at least two intermediate frames and a number of wheel frames; the transfer of the load from the foot to the main frame and from said frame to the intermediate frames and then to the wheel frames is effected by means of line contact occuring between two cooperating cylindrical planes with different radii of curvature.

A pull strand of high tensile strength which may be composed of a number of parallel, longitudinal steel wires and a series of transverse, stiffener elements made of aluminum or other metal spaced along the pull strand and providing oppositely facing lateral edges for active engagement with coned sheaves are interconnected solely by a continuous molded body of rubber or rubberoid material in adherence with the pull strand and with the transverse elements. The molded body runs longitudinally through identical cavities of the said transverse elements, extending sidewardly at least onto their lateral edges and filling intermediately thereto at least a portion of each space between the sidewalls of the said transverse elements along the said cavities.

Edge-active belt

A stabilizing system for a crane vessel of the twin hull semi-submersible type having a working platform supported above sea level by columns on submersible hulls. Water ballast compartments above sea level on the corner columns are discharged selectively in order to stabilize the vessel during handling of heavy outboard loads by cranes. The water is discharged through controlled valves of special construction. This control is regulated in dependence of measured values of the moment of force applied on the vessel by the crane load, and effects the operation with the help of a computer. Lower water ballast compartments in the columns have an additional 'passive' function and the water can be discharged therefrom by pressurized air or by pumping it into the upper ballast compartments.

Stabilizing system for a crane vessel

The forming simultaneously of a series of cylindrical metal belts in a range of slightly different measures suitable to be fitted into each other into a multiple layer driving belt. The belts are formed from a series of blanks of tubular material, having the same diameter. Two parallel rotatable rolls, having a length exceeding the total length of the series of blanks are inserted through the series of blanks which are positioned side by side along the said length. One of the said inserted rolls is a stretch roll having a relatively small diameter with respect to a pair of work rolls of large diameter between which the tubing-stretch roll assembly is engaged in a position offset to one side of the plane containing the axes of the said work rolls. On the other side of the said plane the other of the said inserted rolls is urged in a direction away from the said plane as a tensioning roller, which has a step up range of slightly different diameters for areas along its length each engaging one of the said blanks.

Method and apparatus for the forming of metal endless belts from blanks

A fully hydraulic control mechanism for an infinitely variable cone pulley gear. The torque is transmitted by the intermediary of an oil cushion in a coupling between a driving and a driven element providing for a torque-dependent oil pressure in an oil circuit. The oil circuit delivers pressure on surfaces of different size of axially movable discs for primary and secondary cone pairs between which a transmission belt is running. The oil circuit leads from the primary to the secondary cone pair through a pressure reduction device which is under speed-ratio progressive control.

A hoisting hook for at least four ropes comprising a block, a shaft rotatably supported in said block and a plurality of anchor-like devices rotatably supported in said shaft, so that sufficient degrees of freedom are created for the ropes to divide the hoisting load equally over the ropes.

The trapezoidal cross-section or profile of an endless driving belt is shaped by means of an uninterrupted row of thin metal plates transversely mounted on a metallic pull band over the entire length thereof. The plates are pressed against each other by tensile stress in the pull band. The pull band may advantageously be subdivided into two separate, parallel band strips each these two strips being inserted from oppisite sides in sideward slots provided in the metal plates. The alignment of each plate in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the band is maintained by coupling means between all contiguous plates preventing lateral shifting of each plate with respect to its adjoining plates but allowing a slight mutual tipping of the plates around an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the pull band and parallel to the plane thereof.
