A service management system facilitates service on building management systems. A connected services system of a connected services system stores temperature information from temperature detectors of building management systems (including heat detectors of fire alarm systems and thermostats of building automation systems), which send sensor values to control panels, which, in turn, send the temperature information to the connected services system. A temperature detector evaluation module of the connected services system retrieves the temperature information from the connected services database, generates aggregate temperature information based on the temperature information and then determines which of the temperature detectors require service based on the aggregate temperature information, for example, by detecting outlier temperature information. Scheduled service tasks for the temperature detectors requiring service are then pushed to a service workflow module, which sends the scheduled service tasks to a mobile computing device operated by a technician performing the service.

Method and apparatus for evaluation of temperature sensors

The near-universal connection between control panels and monitoring stations is used to transmit status information for non-compatible control panels to connected services systems. In this way, connected services systems can incorporate monitoring and tracking of non-compatible control panels as well as compatible control panels.

Method and system for monitoring fire alarm systems

A service management system validates service on building management systems. Devices of the building management systems include wireless transmitters (for example, radiofrequency identification (RFID) tags) for transmitting wireless signals containing identification information. During service, a technician reads the identification information using a mobile computing device (for example, an RFID reader) while also recording the signal strength of the wireless signals. The mobile computing sends the identification information and signal strength information to a connected services system along with information about the service, and a validation module confirms that the identification information and signal strength information indicates that the technician was actually in the vicinity of the devices that were serviced.

Method and apparatus for verifying service of installed devices using RFID

A service management system facilitates and validates service on building management systems installed in a building with an access control system. A service workflow module receives device events from control panels of the building management systems and combines them with local service data from mobile computing devices of technicians performing the service, generating service events. A validation module receives the service events and retrieves access control events from an access control system controller of the access control system and determines whether they are coherent. The service workflow module also infers the location of the technician based on the access control events and sends service eligible devices to be displayed on the mobile computing devices of the technicians. In an alternative embodiment, device events from a building automation system such as a heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system are further used to validate the service events.

Method and system for service verification using access control system

A service management system facilitates and validates service on building management systems. A service workflow module receives device events from control panels of the building management systems and combines them with local service data from mobile computing devices of technicians performing the service, generating service events. The service workflow module receives ambient radiofrequency (RF) signal data detected from the location of serviced devices. A validation module stores the ambient RF signal data and generates and a device fingerprint based on the ambient RF signal data. After device fingerprints based on the ambient RF signal data have been accumulated, the validation module determines whether current service events and ambient RF signal data are coherent with the device fingerprints and previous ambient RF signal data. The service workflow module also infers the location of the technician based on the ambient RF signal data and sends navigation information to the mobile computing device.

Method and system for service verification using WiFi signal strength mapping

A gateway system is used to establish secure connections between building management system control panels and connected services system servers. This enables status monitoring of the panels and maintenance of the panels and the building management systems.
