A supplemental resistance device attachable as an accessory to the weight stacks of weight stack exercise machines to reduce or eliminate the unweighting effects of changes in acceleration at the top of the lift and friction losses during the downward phase of the lift. The supplemental resistance device comprises pins for insertion at two different levels of a weight stack, plus an elongatable resistance mechanism affixed between the pins which supplements the resistance provided by the weight stack as the two different levels of the weight stack are separated from one another. The supplemental resistance device maintains a more consistent load on the muscles during the full cycle of each lift on a weight stack exercise machine.

A weight sled for fitness training that uses a plurality of resistance mechanisms to allow for adjustment of resistance. Depending on the configuration, wheel skid or slippage control may be provided by electronic monitoring of the angular velocity of one or more wheels and electronic adjustment of the resistance of any skidding or slipping wheels, bias correction and directional control may be provided by using a plurality of resistance mechanisms via differential adjustment of the resistance of the plurality of resistance mechanisms, and differential adjustment of the resistance mechanisms may be used to manually or automatically offset a directional bias in the sled, ground surface, or the athlete's abilities to keep the sled moving in a linear motion, and to prevent wheel skid on surfaces with differing friction coefficients.

In some examples, an apparatus for scheduling service assets for an event is provided. A schedule of events and service assets is stored. Each event in the schedule of events is associated with one of the plurality of service assets. A first service asset is unable to attend an event. A substitution request from a first computing device associated with the first service asset is received. A user interface is generated for display on the first computing device. The user interface includes a plurality of selectable items corresponding to the plurality of service assets, a selectable request-substitute interface element, and a selectable event sign-in interface element. In response to receiving a selection of a send-request interface element, a substitute request notification to be displayed on a second computing device is transmitted. In some examples, the schedule of events is updated to reflect a second service asset associated with the event.

Event scheduling

A weight sled that allows both linear and non-linear movements such that resistance training can be performed in the frontal, sagittal, and combined frontal/sagittal planes, and which allows easy movement for transportation, storage, and retrieval from storage. The weight sled uses one or more swiveling, pivoting, or omni-directional wheels that allow all or a portion of the sled to be moved laterally. The addition of wheel configurations allowing of lateral movement of all of, or a portion of, the weight sled greatly expands the utility of weight sleds because movement in any direction can be trained, whether in the sagittal body plane (forward/backward movements), the frontal body plane (lateral movements), or a combination of the two. Additionally, the plurality of wheel configurations allows for a variety of storage arrangements.

In an example embodiment, a computing apparatus for scheduling service assets for an event is provided. The computing apparatus comprises a processor and a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, configure the apparatus to, at a portable electronic device with a touch-sensitive display, detect a finger gesture on the touch-sensitive display while displaying a user interface screen, the finger gesture indicative of a user selection of a first service asset in the pool of selectable service assets, and in response to detecting the finger gesture on the touch sensitive display, send a first substitute request notification to a device associated with the first service asset, and in response to receiving a positive response to the substitute request notification, substitute the first service asset for an existing service asset associated with the event, and notifying the pool of selectable service assets and the existing service asset of the substitution.
