A BLUETOOTH Low Energy (BLE) device includes a BLUETOOTH transceiver, a memory storing a computer program, and a processor configured to execute the computer program. The computer program is configured to select a primary advertising channel as a target channel for transmission of a BLE advertising packet belonging to a BLE advertising event, and listen to the selected channel for a channel assessment time. Listening to the selected channel includes determining whether the selected channel is busy or idle. The computer program is further configured to transmit the BLE advertising packet on the selected channel when it is determined that the selected channel is idle during the channel assessment time.

Methods, apparatuses, and systems for using Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to detect, measure, and/or compensate for, antenna load mismatch are described. One method provides a test sweep signal as digital input to a Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) in a transmit path ending with an antenna, and determines a transmit transfer function based on the digital input and digital output from an Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) in a loopback path which is electrically connected in parallel with a load impedance of the antenna. The determined transmit transfer function may be used for any of detecting, measuring, and compensating for, antenna mismatch.

Methods and apparatuses are provided for recovering data transmitted to a terminal. A processor of the terminal selects a plurality of candidate frames expected to include the data from a memory of the terminal. Each of the plurality of candidate frames is received by the terminal and includes one or more errors. The processor compares corresponding values, for each of a plurality of bit sets, in the plurality of candidate frames. Specified fields of the plurality of candidate frames are excluded from comparison. The processor recovers the data based on the comparison.

A radio apparatus includes a first transceiver arranged to receive and transmit packets according to a first protocol, and a second transceiver arranged to receive or transmit packets according to a second, different protocol, wherein the second transceiver is located such that there is the possibility of interference between packets of the first and second protocols. An analyzer unit determines a probability that a packet to be transmitted or received by the first transceiver does not contain only redundant information; and a decision unit makes a decision based on the determined probability as to whether or not the packet should be respectively transmitted or received. The first transceiver is arranged to respectively transmit or receive the packet or not according to the decision.

Roughly described, a first radio is configured to operate according to a first protocol and configured to use a coexistence signaling scheme with a second radio configured to operate according to a second protocol, wherein the coexistence signaling scheme is configured to allow a radio configured to operate according to the second protocol to be co-located and non-interfering with a radio configured to operate according to a protocol different to the first protocol, and wherein the first radio comprises behavioral logic for generating messages for the second radio in accordance with the coexistence signaling scheme to cause the second radio to adopt behavior suitable for coexistence with the first radio.

A receiver for receiving data carried by multiple carriers, the receiver having: estimation means for forming an estimate of the reliability with which data from one or more of the carriers is received as distinct from the reliability with which data from one or more other of the carriers is received; and a decoder arranged for forming an estimate of the symbols represented by the data received from the carriers in dependence on the estimate of reliability.

Treating carrier-specific interference

A method for interpreting timing information at a communication support entity operable to communicate wirelessly, includes the steps of: at a first time at the communication support entity, receiving an indicator of a predetermined form over a link from another communication support entity; receiving over the link data representing one or more relative times; interpreting each such relative time represented by the received data as indicating the absolute time that is offset after the first time by the respective relative time together optionally with a latency value; and determining in dependence on the received data the manner in which the communication support entity is to communicate wirelessly at that absolute time.
