Provided is a method of spatially referencing a plurality of images captured from a plurality of different locations within an indoor space by determining the location from which the plurality of images was captured. The method may include obtaining a plurality of distance-referenced panoramas of an indoor space. The distance-referenced panoramas may each include a plurality of distance-referenced images each captured from one position in the indoor space and at a different azimuth from the other distance-referenced images, a plurality of distance measurements, and orientation indicators each indicative of the azimuth of the corresponding one of the distance-referenced images. The method may further include determining the location of each of the distance-referenced panoramas based on the plurality of distance measurements and the orientation indicators and associating in memory the determined locations with the plurality of distance-referenced images captured from the determined location.

Apparatus and method for spatially referencing images

Provided is a method of spatially referencing a plurality of images captured from a plurality of different locations within an indoor space by determining the location from which the plurality of images were captured. The method may include obtaining a plurality of distance-referenced panoramas of an indoor space. The distance-referenced panoramas may each include a plurality of distance-referenced images each captured from one position in the indoor space and at a different azimuth from the other distance-referenced images, a plurality of distance measurements, and orientation indicators each indicative of the azimuth of the corresponding one of the distance-referenced images. The method may further include determining the location of each of the distance-referenced panoramas based on the plurality of distance measurements and the orientation indicators and associating in memory the determined locations with the plurality of distance-referenced images captured from the determined location.

In one aspect, a tunable vibration damper may include a housing and a damper stack disposed within the housing. The damper stack may be formed from a viscoelastic material and may have a vertical stiffness and a horizontal stiffness. The damper stack may also include a plurality of column sections and a plurality of disk sections, with each pair of adjacent column sections being separated by one of the disk sections. The disk sections may extend radially outwardly relative to the column sections. In addition, at least one of the vertical stiffness or the horizontal stiffness may be tunable by adjusting a stiffness-related parameter of the damper stack.

Systems and methods for automatically focusing an image capture device on a page of a document object. A predetermined light pattern is projected onto the page being imaged. The light pattern varies as a function of the separation of the page being imaged from the end page. The light pattern projected onto the page being imaged is sensed. Based on the sensed light pattern, the image capture device is focused on the page being imaged.

Automated focus adjustment using a varying light pattern

A multimode actuator for a document scanning apparatus is used to manipulate a book cradle along two degrees of freedom. The apparatus includes a drive shaft that is moveable along an axis to actuate the drive shaft in a first position and a second position. In the first position, the drive shaft engages with a spacing gear and disengages with a translation gear, wherein a rotation of the drive shaft while in the first position causes spacing between cradle halves to change. In the second position, the drive shaft engages the translation gear and disengages the spacing gear, wherein a rotation of the drive shaft while in the second position causes the lateral position of the document cradle to change while maintaining the spacing between the cradle halves.

Mobile record information entry and geotagging methods and systems are disclosed. A method for managing an accurate collection of geographical information system (GIS) data over the World Wide Web from a plurality of mobile computing devices operated by different users at various locations in a geographical area is disclosed. A browser may allow a user of a mobile computing device to enter record information associated with businesses based on observations made at different locations and may add geographical tags to the record information to obtain geotagged record information. The geographical tags may include geospatial location information that specifies the current geographical location of a mobile computing device at the time of user entry. GIS data may be updated based on the geotagged record information received from the browser.
