A turbine nozzle for a gas turbine includes: an airfoil having an airfoil shape having a nominal profile substantially in accordance with at least a portion of Cartesian coordinate values of X, Y and Z set forth in TABLE I. The Cartesian coordinate values are non-dimensional values of from 0% to 100% convertible to distances by multiplying the values by a height of the airfoil expressed in units of distance. The X and Y values are connected by smooth continuing arcs that define airfoil profile sections at each distance Z along at least a portion of the airfoil, and the airfoil profile sections at the Z distances are joined smoothly with one another to form the nominal profile. A trailing edge profile for a turbine nozzle is also disclosed.

Rotor blades and turbomachines are provided. A rotor blade includes a platform and an airfoil extending radially from a root proximate the platform to a tip. The airfoil includes a leading edge and a trailing edge. The airfoil further includes a pressure side surface extending between the leading edge and the trailing edge. The airfoil also includes a suction side surface disposed opposite the pressure side surface and extending between the leading edge and the trailing edge. The leading edge, the trailing edge, the pressure side surface, and the suction side surface collectively define a first profile at the tip and a second profile radially inward from the tip. The first profile includes a suction side overhang, a pressure side overhang, and a pressure side underhang relative to the second profile.

The present application provides a turbine rotor blade including an airfoil shape and a trailing edge shape. The airfoil shape may have a nominal profile substantially in accordance with Cartesian coordinate values of X, Y and Z set forth in Table I, while the trailing edge profile is defined by Table II. The Cartesian coordinate values of X, Y and Z are non-dimensional values from 0% to 100% convertible to dimensional distances in a unit of distance by multiplying the Cartesian coordinate values of X, Y and Z by a height of the airfoil in the unit of distance (e.g., inches). The X and Y values, when connected by smooth continuing arcs, define airfoil profile sections at each distance Z. The airfoil profile sections at Z distances may be joined smoothly with one another to form a complete airfoil shape.

A nozzle segment for a gas turbine engine has a turbine airfoil bound on a first side by an arcuate inner endwall having an inner platform and on a second side by an arcuate outer endwall having an outer platform. The airfoil extends outwardly from the inner platform toward the outer platform. The airfoil body includes opposed pressure and suction sidewalls extending between a leading edge and a trailing edge of the airfoil body. The airfoil body includes a first trailing edge fillet blending into the inner platform at a trailing edge of the airfoil body.

A turbine stage includes a row of airfoils joined to corresponding platforms to define flow passages therebetween. Each airfoil includes opposite pressure and suction sides and extends in chord between opposite leading and trailing edges. Each platform has a contoured flow surface including a purge valley, an elevated bulge and a bowl. The purge valley has a maximum depth at an elevation equal to or greater than a nominal axisymmetric platform surface of the corresponding platform. The purge valley extending tangentially against a purge cavity wall and into the blend area and extending axially from proximate the leading edge of a first airfoil toward the suction side of the first airfoil, and toward the leading edge of a second adjacent airfoil to channel a purge flow. The elevated bulge adjoins the pressure side aft of the leading edge and the bowl adjoins the suction side aft of the leading edge.

Various embodiments of the invention include turbine buckets and systems employing such buckets. Various particular embodiments include a turbine bucket having: an airfoil having: a suction side; a pressure side opposing the suction side; a leading edge spanning between the pressure side and the suction side; and a trailing edge opposing the leading edge and spanning between the pressure side and the suction side; and a base connected with a first end of the airfoil along the suction side, pressure side, trailing edge and the leading edge, the base including a non-axisymmetric contour proximate a junction between the base and the airfoil.

Turbine frequency tuning, fluid dynamic efficiency, and performance can be improved using an airfoil profile and/or an endwall contour including at least one of a pressure side bump, a pressure side leading edge bump, or a suction side trough. In particular, by including two endwall bumps on the pressure side and a trough on the suction side combined with a particular airfoil profile, performance can be further improved.

Various embodiments of the invention include turbine nozzles and systems employing such nozzles. Various particular embodiments include a turbine nozzle having: an airfoil having: a suction side; a pressure side opposing the suction side; a leading edge spanning between the pressure side and the suction side; and a trailing edge opposing the leading edge and spanning between the pressure side and the suction side; and at least one endwall connected with the airfoil along the suction side, pressure side, trailing edge and the leading edge, the at least one endwall including a non-axisymmetric contour proximate a junction between the endwall and the leading edge of the airfoil.

A turbine blade includes an airfoil portion including a suction side having a suction side contour, a pressure side having a pressure side contour, a leading edge, a trailing edge and a tip portion, and a squeeler pocket formed in the tip portion. The squeeler pocket includes a first side wall and a second side wall. The first side wall includes a first internal surface having a first substantially continuous curvilinear profile and the second side wall includes a second internal surface having a second substantially continuous curvilinear profile. A bleed passage extends from the squeeler pocket towards the trailing edge. The first and second side walls are configured to deliver a substantially unobstructed fluid flow from the squeeler pocket to the bleed passage and limit the fluid flow spillage onto one of the pressure side and the suction side.

A turbomachine is provided and includes first and second endwalls disposed to define a pathway, each of the first and second endwalls including a surface facing the pathway and first and second blades extendible across the pathway from at least one of the first and second endwalls, each of the first and second blades having an airfoil shape and being disposed such that a pressure side of the first blade faces a suction side of the second blade. A portion of the surface of at least one of the first and second endwalls between the first and second blades has at least a first hump proximate to a leading edge and the pressure side of the first blade, and a second hump disposed at 10-60% of a chord length of the first blade and proximate to the pressure side thereof.

Turbine of a turbomachine

A turbine of a turbomachine is provided and includes opposing endwalls defining a pathway into which a fluid flow is receivable to flow through the pathway; and a nozzle stage at which adjacent nozzles extend across the pathway between the opposing endwalls to aerodynamically interact with the fluid flow. The adjacent nozzles are configured to define a throat distribution exhibiting endwall throat decambering and pitchline throat overcambering.

A transition nozzle is provided and includes a liner in which combustion occurs and through which products of the combustion flow toward a turbine bucket stage. The liner includes opposing endwalls and opposing sidewalls extending between the opposing endwalls. The opposing sidewalls are oriented to tangentially direct the flow of the combustion products toward the turbine bucket stage. At least one of the opposing endwalls and the opposing sidewalls including a flow contouring feature to guide the flow of the combustion products.

At least one of the plurality of turbomachine nozzles includes a body having a first surface and an opposing second surface that extend between a first end and a second end. At least one of the first and second surfaces includes a profile having an angle of between about 3&#xb0; and about 8&#xb0; between a first line passing through the first end and a first position located between about 28% and about 38% from the first end and a second line passing through the first position and a second position located between about 53% and about 63% from the first end, and an angle of between about 10&#xb0; and about 20&#xb0; between the second line and a third line passing through the second position and a third position located between about 74% and about 84% from the first end.
