A method, apparatus, and program product perform microstructure analysis of a digital image of rock using a trained convolutional neural network model to generate a plurality of rock features. The rock features can represent a pore space in the microstructure of the rock including pores and throats. In many implementations, a statistical process can be applied to the rock features to generate characteristics of the pore space which can be used in classifying the rock.

An apparatus for performing a well test operation includes a tubular member having a surge chamber and a valve that can control fluid flow from a well into the surge chamber during the well test operation. The apparatus can also include a flow control device, in addition to the valve, for further controlling fluid flow into the surge chamber from the well. Flow rate and pressure data can be measured during the well test operation and used to estimate reservoir properties. Various other systems, devices, and methods are also disclosed.

The disclosure relates to measurements of parameters of multiphase mixtures transported in pipelines. For determining phases flow rates of a two-phase mixture an unsteady pulsed flow regime of the mixture is formed in a pipeline to provide pulsating outbursts of a liquid phase at an outlet of the pipeline. Upon establishment of the pulsed flow regime at the pipeline outlet parameters of the liquid phase outbursts are measured and the flow rates of the phases are determined based on the measured parameters of the liquid phase outbursts.

Method for determining flow rates of phases of a two-phase mixture in a pipeline

The invention allows determining a local change of an admixture concentration in a fluid flow at an entrance to a measurement cell. The change of the admixture concentration in time inside the measurement cell is first determined for a fluid containing the admixture, the change of concentration of which in time at the entrance to the measurement cell is known. Then, an impulse response of the cell is found applying the deconvolution method. The change of the admixture concentration inside the measurement cell is then determined for a fluid being studied with an unknown concentration of the admixture at the entrance. The unknown concentration is determined using the impulse response of the measurement cell and the change of the admixture concentration inside the cell.
