Apparatus and systems for providing magnetic fields for controlling micro-devices implanted in a patient body, organ, or tissue. Novel coil configurations are disclosed which provide magnetic fields of adequate strength and directional characteristics over a large operational region with minimal weight and power dissipation, while providing ease of access to the focus regions. Also provided are micro-devices in various size regimes which can be controlled both in position as well as in function (such as release of therapeutic materials), and which are capable of both energy and data transfer with the magnetic field control system.

Hybrid electromagnetic device for remote control of micro-nano scale robots, medical tools and implantable devices

This invention relates to apparatus for creating a magnetic field to propel a magnetic device within a diverse media including biological matrices, tissues, organs, animals and humans. In one embodiment, a cylindrical dual Halbach array provides a uniform magnetic field with a settable field direction. Another embodiment provides support and orientation apparatus for a controlled-gradient conical magnet to achieve a full 4π steradian solid angle coverage around the specimen.

A wearable device includes a processor and a lower module. The lower module includes a pressure sensor for detecting a mechanical movement of a skin that covers an artery. The mechanical movement of the skin is due to blood flow through the artery. The processor is configured to receive skin movement information from the movement sensor; calculate a pulse front velocity (PFV), which is a velocity of a blood wave as the blood wave passes under the pressure sensor; estimate a pulse wave velocity (PWV) using the PFV; and estimate the blood pressure using the PWV.

Described herein are systems and methods for collecting physiological information from a user and determining information including, but not limited to, a user's heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels (SvO), hydration, respiration rate, and heart rate variability. Physiological information is collected from one or more modules, each comprising a sensor array. The sensor array(s) can comprise, among other things, light sources, photo detectors, ECG electrodes/sensors, bio impedance sensors, galvanic skin response sensors, tonometry/contact sensors, accelerometers, pressure sensors, acoustic sensors, and electromagnetic sensors. The information collected from a user can be used to cross-reference a database comprising similar information for a number of subjects as well as verified measurements for each subject including, but not limited to, blood pressure, oxygen levels (SvO), hydration, respiration rate, and heart rate variability. As such, a user's blood pressure, oxygen levels, hydration, respiration rate, and heart rate variability can be accurately estimated without direct measurement.

Systems and methods for collecting physiological information of a user

Optical apparatus () includes a stator assembly (), which includes a core () containing an air gap and one or more coils () including conductive wire wound on the core so as to cause the core to form a magnetic circuit through the air gap in response to an electrical current flowing in the conductive wire. Designs and method of construction for planar stators useable inter alia for axial air-gap electric machines are provided. In some embodiments these designs make highly efficient use of the space occupied by the stator, substantially filling most of its volume with active conductors. Some embodiments comprise at least one flexible conductor member (e.g. a flat cable) periodically bent by about 180&#xb0; to form both external and internal peripheries of a two-layer planar stator. In some embodiments disk-like or ring-like members are used to shape and/or to secure the flexible conductor. In some embodiments adhesive members and/or encapsulating and/or potting of conductive elements provide solidity and rigidity of the stator(s). In some embodiments a plurality of planar stators are interleaved with a plurality of planar rotors, producing an efficient system electrical motor and/or generator.
