Trailer brake gain in a towing configuration of a tow vehicle and a trailer is determined by providing, to a processor, trailer wheel rotation information. The processor provides trailer brake control signals at a plurality of different evaluation trailer brake gains. The processor determines the trailer brake gain based upon the trailer wheel rotation information corresponding to the plurality of different evaluation trailer brake gains.

Trailer brake gain determination

A continuously variable transmission (CVT), a transmission control system, and a method vary CVT clamping pressure based on an operation parameter. The control system is configured to command an initial minimum clamping pressure to be applied to the variator assembly to achieve a desired torque capacity. The control system determines one or more vehicle operation parameters and determines a vehicle condition based on the vehicle operation parameter(s). The vehicle condition is selectable from at least a base condition, an elevated condition, and a high condition. The control system selects a compensation strategy based on the vehicle condition. If an elevated compensation strategy has been selected and a predetermined condition has been met, the control system commands an elevated clamping pressure to be applied to the variator assembly. If a high compensation strategy has been selected, the control system commands a high clamping pressure to be applied to the variator assembly.

Continuously variable transmission and system and method of control for high torque events

A continuously variable transmission (CVT), a transmission control system, and a method is provided. The control system is configured to determine a measured wheel speed of two driven wheels and a first driving wheel, calculate a first driving wheel expected speed based on the driven wheel measured speeds, a track width, and a wheel base, and calculate an actual wheel speed difference between the first driving wheel measured speed and the additional wheel measured speed. The additional wheel can be either of the driven wheels or a second driving wheel. The control system is also configured to calculate a theoretical wheel speed difference between the first driving wheel expected speed and the additional wheel measured speed, calculate a zeroed-out wheel slip based on the difference between the actual wheel speed difference and the theoretical wheel speed difference, and determine whether the zeroed-out wheel slip exceeds a predetermined threshold.

Continuously variable transmission and system and method of control based on a zeroed-out wheel slip

A continuously variable transmission (CVT) for a vehicle includes an input member, an output member and a variator assembly including a first pulley rotatably coupled to the input member and a second pulley rotatably coupled to the output. The first and second pulleys are rotatably coupled by a flexible continuous rotatable device. A control system is provided including an instruction set executable to determine an initial variator speed ratio of the variator assembly and detect an event causing a change in an operational state of the vehicle. The control system determines a compensation strategy to adjust the variator speed ratio in response to the change in the operational state of the vehicle and generates an adjusted variator speed ratio based upon the compensation strategy. The control system transmits the adjusted variator speed ratio to the variator assembly.
