A method for performing a surgical procedure includes: positioning a patient in a surgical patient interface device that includes: a base, a platform coupled to the base, and a first abutment and a second abutment each coupled to the platform; rotating the platform between a first position and a second position, where, in the first position, the platform extends in a substantially horizontal direction relative to the base, and the first and second abutments are separated by a first distance, and in the second position, the platform extends in a substantially vertical direction relative to the base; adjusting one or both of the first and second abutments relative to the platform such that, in the second position, the first and second abutments are separated by a second distance different from the first distance; and accessing a target portion of skin of the patient for the surgical procedure.

Systems and methods for controlling multiple surgical variables

A scanner system for capturing a three-dimensional model of an object includes a laser and a camera to capture two-dimensional images of the object. The system also includes a tube mounted to a rail, a central processor configured to receive data collected from the laser and the camera and an actuation mechanism configured to move the tube along the rail. The tube is configured to move generally along a travel axis of the rail. The tube includes open first and second tube ends. The laser and camera are mounted inside the tube between the first and second tube ends. The first tube end includes a first continuous ring and the second tube end includes a second continuous ring. A channel extends through the tube between the first and second rings positioned adjacent the rail in an assembled configuration.

Apparatus for anatomic three dimensional scanning and automated three dimensional cast and splint design

A bone screw has a first portion including a head. A second portion includes a threaded shaft having a length and a major diameter. The shaft includes a length-to-major diameter ratio of less than about 2.0. The thread has a minor diameter and includes a major-diameter-to-minor diameter ratio of greater than about 2.0. The shaft further has at least one thread including a pitch of greater than about 1.0 mm and defining a pitch cavity for disposal of tissue. Systems and methods of use are disclosed.

Surgical implant and method of use

An apparatus and method are provided that tracks patient recovery following an orthopedic procedure. A statistical computing engine implements a predictive model of the patient's post-procedural state for the orthopedic procedure based on a database of patient demographic data, comorbidities, pre-procedural walking parameters, including steps taken, and the orthopedic procedure that the patient is undergoing. The pre-procedural walking parameters are populated from physical sensor data automatically collected from the patient. The predictive model uses machine learning and is trained using training data sets. The predictive model creates a temporal trendline of post-procedural walking parameters, including steps taken, and a temporal trendline of post-procedural pain level. A processor then compares the patient's actual post-procedural state to the predictive model of the patient's post-procedural state. The post-procedural walking parameters are also obtained from the physical sensor.

System and method for tracking patient recovery following orthopedic procedure

A surgical patient interface including a base; a platform coupled to the base and including a first end and a second end, the platform configured to transition between a first position and a second position about a pivotable axis stationary relative to the base; a first abutment and a second abutment each adjustably coupled to the platform. In the first position, the platform extends between the first end and the second end in a substantially horizontal direction relative to the base, and the first abutment and the second abutment are separated by a first distance along the substantially horizontal direction. In the second position, the platform extends between the first end and the second end in a substantially vertical direction such that a torso of a patient extends in the substantially vertical direction, and the first abutment and the second abutment are separated by a second, different distance along the substantially vertical direction.

A surgical patient interface including a patient support platform having a first end and a second end and configured for secure placement with respect to at least one surface of a building structure, wherein the patient support platform is configured to interface with a patient such that at least the torso of the patient extends in a generally vertical direction between the first end and the second end of the patient support platform, and one or more patient supports coupled to the patient support platform and configured to secure the patient to the patient support platform, such that the at least the torso of the patient is held in a substantially static condition, and such that a target portion of the patient's skin is accessible for surgical puncture or incision.

A 3D printed cast or splint for application to a patient's body to immobilize a body part includes first and second shell portions configured to conform to at least a portion of the body part. The first shell portion has a distal end, a proximal end, opposing interfacing edges, a plurality of venting holes and a first engagement mechanism positioned proximate one of the opposing interfacing edges. A reinforcement portion extends between the proximal and distal ends. The second shell portion has a distal end, a proximal end, opposing interfacing edges, a plurality of venting holes and a second engagement mechanism positioned proximate one of the opposing interfacing edges. The first engagement mechanism interacts with the second engagement mechanism in a mounted configuration to facilitate mounting of the first shell portion to the second shell portion.

Spinal implant

A method of manufacturing a resorbable balloon designed to contain bone cement for vertebroplasty or kyphoplasty applications is described. The resorbable balloon can be inserted into a vertebral body following vertebral cavitation and filled with bone cement. The balloon remains in place in the vertebral body and resorbs over time. Methods and apparatus are also described for delivering therapeutic agents using collapsible, resorbable balloons. The balloons may be nested and filled with various therapeutic agents that are released over time at rates dependent upon structures and degradation rates of the balloons. Furthermore, the function of the hollow devices can encompass both encapsulation and therapeutic substance delivery roles simultaneously.

A covering for delivering a substance or material to a surgical site is provided. The covering, with substance provided therein, may be referred to as a delivery system. Generally, the covering may be a single or multi-compartment structure capable of at least partially retaining a substance provided therein until the covering is placed at a surgical site. Upon placement, the covering may facilitate transfer of the substance or surrounding materials. For example, the substance may be released (actively or passively) to the surgical site. The covering may participate in, control, or otherwise adjust the release of the substance. In various embodiments, the covering is suitable for a variety of procedure specific uses. Implantation tools may be provided for placing the covering at a surgical site. Kits may be provided including variously sized or shaped coverings and one or more tools for use in placing the covering.

Delivery systems, tools, and methods of use

A spinal plate system that maintains intervertebral spacing and spinal stability is provided. In an embodiment, a spinal compression plate may include two or more plates coupled together form an adjustable-length plate. Compression of a spinal compression plate movement may mimic natural settling of bones in a spine and/or distribute at least a portion of a vertebral load to an implant positioned between two vertebrae. Maintaining at least a portion of the vertebral load on an insert may increase bone growth and increase fusion between an implant and surrounding vertebrae.
