A hydraulic binder which includes a clinker with a specific shape, the clinker including as main phases, given as weight percentages relative to the total weight of the clinker: (i) 70 to 95% of a belite phase having a particle size such that the Dv50 ranges from 5 to 15 &#x3bc;m; (ii) 5 to 30% of a calcium aluminoferrite phase; and (iii) less than 5% of minor phases; the clinker having an AlO/FeOweight ratio of less than 1.5; and the clinker including less than 5% of alite phase and less than 5% of calcium sulphoaluminate phase; and at least 0.5% dry weight of an activator made of calcium sulphate, as a weight percentage relative to the total weight of phases (i) to (iii).

A process for the treatment of a silicate mineral, includes: preparing a first composition including an alkali metal magnesium orthosilicate and optionally either (i) magnesium oxide or (ii) an alkali metal silicate, by reaction, at a temperature from 500 to 1200&#xb0; C., of an alkali metal carbonate compound, which compound is an alkali metal carbonate, an alkali metal bicarbonate or a mixture thereof, with a magnesium silicate, the molar ratio of alkali metal carbonate compound, expressed as alkali metal oxide of the formula RO, in which R represents an alkali metal, to magnesium silicate, expressed as silicon dioxide, of the formula SiO, being from 4:1 to 1:4, and contacting the first composition with water to produce a second composition comprising an amorphous magnesium silicate hydrate (M-S&#x2014;H).

Process for the treatment of a silicate mineral

A process for the mineralization of carbon dioxide to form a magnesium carbonate compound, which process includes contacting the carbon dioxide, in the free form, or in the form of an alkali metal carbonate or bicarbonate, with an alkali metal magnesium silicate to produce the magnesium carbonate compound.
