A wiping article is provided which includes an effervescent cleanser composition held within a pouch formed from a first and second substrate sheet. At least one of the substrate sheets must be water permeable. The effervescent composition is an intimate mixture of an acid material such as citric acid and an alkaline material such as sodium bicarbonate. Water contact causes the combination to effervesce. A dry surfactant such as sodium cocoyl isethionate in contact with the water and effervescing carbon dioxide results in a highly pleasant sudsing system. Skin benefit agents may be included within the composition. The effervescent action may improve deposition of the skin benefit agents onto the skin.

A cosmetic cleansing article is provided which includes an effervescent cleanser composition held within a sachet having at least one water permeable wall. The effervescent composition is an intimate mixture of an acid material such as citric acid and an alkaline material such as sodium bicarbonate. Water contact causes the combination to effervesce. The powdered mixture of alkaline/acid materials is storage stabilized against premature effervescent action by dispersing therewithin plant solids.

Cosmetic effervescent cleansing compositions

A disposable substantially dry foamable product is described including a water-insoluble substrate such as a flexible web, the substrate having first and second major surfaces, with a plurality of moguls spaced apart on the first major surface and a foamable composition deposited in major amounts on the second surface and a minor amount on the first surface. A method for producing the product is also described which employs the moguls in juxtaposition to a guide roller to establish space between a surface of the roller and the first surface of the substrate. Foamed composition is deposited onto the second surface which by seepage through apertures in the substrate allow a minor portion of the coating composition to deposit on the first surface of the substrate.

Cleansing wipe article and method of manufacture

A wiping article is provided which includes an effervescent cleanser composition held within a sachet, at least one wall of the sachet including at least one pleat. The presence of pleats allows expansion room within the sachet to accommodate effervescent action. It also results in an ergonomically pleasant pillow configuration. Advantageously, the sachet is formed of two sheets with the second sheet being relatively more rigid than the first sheet and non-pleated which permits easier graspability by a user's hand. Additionally, at least one of the sheets should be water permeable. In a preferred embodiment, the effervescent composition is an intimate mixture of an acid material such as citric acid and an alkaline material such as sodium bicarbonate. An adhesive cosmetic strip is provided which includes a flexible water-insoluble substrate, an adhesive composition deposited onto the substrate and an agent interactive with water present in a sufficient quantity to induce a change of temperature of the strip. When applied to the skin, the strip is warmed by a reaction between water and an exothermic or endothermic agent held within the strip. Moisture within the skin or externally applied water penetrates the strip and will react with the agent to cause an increase or decrease in temperature.

A self-warming cosmetic composition is provided which delivers skin conditioning agents and is based upon a redox system of iron powder and a catalyst such as charcoal to provide the warmth. The system is activated with moisture and air.

A disposable towelette product is provided which includes a flexible water-insoluble substrate such as a tissue impregnated with an alpha- or beta-hydroxycarboxylic acid in a cosmetically acceptable carrier vehicle. Impregnated cosmetic composition in water will have a pH no higher than 6.8. A silicone microemulsion is present to minimize any stickiness resulting from deposition of the hydroxycarboxylic acid by the towelette onto the skin. In the presence of fatty acid group containing surfactants, the silicone microemulsion controls foul odors that the surfactants may emit through hydrolysis at low pH.

Towelette product

An adhesive cosmetic strip is provided which includes a flexible water-insoluble substrate, an adhesive composition deposited onto the substrate, a liquid crystal thermochromic substance, and an agent interactive with water to ensure a temperature rise of at least 2&deg; C. in the strip. The thermochromic substance may be impregnated into the substrate or dispersed within the adhesive composition. When applied to the skin, the strip is warmed by a reaction between water and an exothermic or endothermic agent held within the strip. Moisture within the skin or externally applied water penetrates the strip and will react with the agent to cause an increase in temperature. Subsequently this increase in temperature will induce a color change in the thermochromic substance.

A sensate composition is provided for imparting a long lasting cooling effect on skin. The composition is a combination of menthyl lactate, isopulegol and menthoxypropanediol, the latter providing a cooling enhancing effect. Cosmetic compositions can be prepared incorporating the sensate composition.

Cosmetic compositions with sensate mixtures based on isopulegol

A cosmetic product is provided for removing keratotic skin plugs. The product includes a flexible non-occlusive substrate sheet onto which a composition containing an anionic or nonionic polymer is deposited. The composition is treated to become dry non-tacky to the touch yet upon being wetted for use the composition again turns tacky and mobile. The method of application involves either directly moistening the product or indirectly moistening by first wetting a consumer's face in an area where the product is applied. Thereafter, water is allowed to evaporate leaving a film to which the keratotic plugs are bonded. The film is then peeled away concommittingly removing the plugs.
