Systems and methods for self-cleaning a surface of an object where an electrodynamic shield is mounted to a surface of the object. The electrodynamic shield includes one or more sets of electrodes atop a substrate, at least one or more sets of electrodes being covered in a protective film. A coating is applied to the top surface of the protection film. A signal pulse generator is connected to the one or more sets of electrodes. The signal pulse generator generates a pulse signal that causes the one or more sets of electrodes to generate an electric field. The pulse signal comprises a plurality of different pulse signals which have phase differences between consecutive signals, and the electric field causes a particle atop the coating to experience an electrostatic force and be repelled away from the coating. These pulse signals (including shapes, amplitudes, shifts, and frequencies) can be tuned to increase efficiency of removal depending on dust type and relative humidity.

Systems and methods for self-cleaning solar panels using an electrodynamic shield

A heat flux sensor device for measuring temperatures of a lithium-ion battery, comprising a flexible polymer substrate comprising a first side and a second side. A transducer is affixed to the first side. A first thermally conductive pad is thermally coupled to the transducer and affixed to the first side. A second TCP is thermally coupled to the transducer opposite to the first TCP and affixed to the first side. A plurality of conductive traces are electrically coupled to the transducer. A third TCP is affixed to the second side proximate to the second TCP. A fourth TCP is affixed to the second side opposite to the third TCP and proximate to the first TCP. The first TCP is thermally coupled to the fourth TCP via a first vertical interconnect access. The second TCP is thermally coupled to the third TCP via a second vertical interconnect access.

Heat flux sensors for thermally monitoring lithium-ion batteries

The present disclosure provides methods for functionalizing the surfaces of cellulose nanoparticles. In embodiments, nanoparticles are aerosolized, and then passed through a flow reactor where they are contacted with gaseous reactants to functionalize the surface of the nanoparticles. In other embodiments, the nanoparticles are aerosolized, and then passed through a plasma reactor where they are contacted with gaseous reactants to functionalize the surface of the nanoparticles. Once the functionalized nanoparticles are produced, they may be combined with polymers to form polymer composites having both a polymer and the functionalized nanoparticles. Systems for producing these functionalized nanoparticles, coupled with downstream polymer processing equipment for forming the polymer composites, are also provided.
