Embodiments provide IP address partitioning features that can be used to source outbound email communications, but the embodiments are not so limited. In an embodiment, a computer-based method operates to remove blocked or potentially misused IP addresses from a partition and/or move good or reputable IP addresses from other partitions to account for volumetric shortfalls. A method of one embodiment operates to repair removed IP address reputations as part of recycling and reusing IP addresses. A system of an embodiment is configured in part to remove misused IP addresses from one or more partitions, source reputable IP addresses from other partitions, and/or repair and reuse IP addresses as needed. Other embodiments are included.

Outbound IP address reputation control and repair

A messaging application filters electronic messages based on domain attributes without a reputation. A message with a uniform resource identifier (URI) is received and determined to not be included within a trusted or a block list. A total score is computed from weighted scores assigned to factors associated with the message. The message is evaluated for an unsolicited message determination by comparing the total score against a predetermined threshold.

In an embodiment, a computer-based method operates to identify and/or isolate one or more customers that may be misusing one or more IP addresses of a partition. A system of an embodiment is configured in part to divide a partition that includes one or more potentially misused IP addresses into one or more levels of sub-partitions as part of identifying offending or potentially offending customers. Automatic isolation and detection of outbound spam

Techniques to detect spam using language and a country of origin of an e-mail may include receiving an e-mail message for a recipient, detecting a country of origin for the e-mail message and detecting a language of the e-mail message. A technique may further include determining a country frequency with which the recipient communicates with the country of origin by e-mail, and a language frequency with which the recipient communicates in the language by e-mail. A technique may assign a first score to the message according to the country frequency, and a second score to the message according to the language frequency. The scores may used to determine whether the e-mail message is spam. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Techniques to filter electronic mail based on language and country of origin

The present invention protects local services from Denial of Service (DoS) attacks based on network paths or sub-paths used to transfer data between a local service and remote clients. As requests for connections to the local services are received, the network sub-paths corresponding to the requests can be retrieved by a tracing process and/or from a database. Connections or other requests with similar or common network sub-paths are also determined. Based on the number of connections and/or requests with similar or common network sub-paths, the connections and/or requests can be throttled. For example, if the number of connections and/or requests with similar or common network sub-paths exceeds a predetermined threshold, then the connections may be disconnected or requests rejected or delayed for processing.
