A test device and method for testing and/or calibrating an analysis device for analyzing light appearances created by an RF surgical instrument. The test device has a test object configured for creation of a plasma test light appearance, the light of which can be received by a light receiving unit.

Test device

An electrosurgical device for recognizing tissue by means of spectral analysis of the light generated at an electrode. An acoustic or optical indicator device displays the tissue type permanently or when detecting certain tissue. Indicators, in particular optical indicators, are arranged in the application field of view, so as to support the user in response to making an incision.

Operating a surgical instrument with tissue recognition

A surgical working instrument () is disclosed that is inserted in a working channel () of an endoscope () and is slidably located therein. A device () for determination of the relative position of the working instrument () to the endoscope () is configured to determine in an optical manner that the distal end () of the working instrument () has reached a distal end () of the working channel (). The position determination device () comprises a light conductor () that is attached to the working instrument () and configured to receive light surrounding the working instrument () in the vicinity of its distal end (), wherein based on the light received by the light conductor () the relative position of the light conductor () and thus the working instrument () in relation to the endoscope () can be determined.

Surgical instrument having a position detection device

The inventive device () can be used for tissue coagulation and/or tissue ablation. It comprises at least one electrode () that serves for generating a spark or plasma jet and is connectable to an electric source () for this purpose. The probe () is assigned to a measuring device () that emits and/or receives light in the proximity of the electrode () and determines the distance of the probe () from the tissue () and/or the tissue temperature and/or the composition of the influenced tissue (). Preferably the measuring device () is operated synchronized with pulses or pauses of the pulse-pause-modulated radio frequency voltage (U) of the electrode () in order to simultaneously carry out the desired measurements during the operation of the instrument () and to feedback control the operation of the instrument () based on the gained measurement results.

Device for tissue coagulation

The instrument according to the invention for electrosurgically impacting biological tissue comprises an electrode () as well as a light guide (), which is connected to a light inlet window (), which is formed by means of a fluid body (). The light guide is connected to a light analysis device (), so as to absorb the light, which is generated at the electrode () in response to the HF surgery and so as to supply it to the light analysis device (). The light inlet window () is arranged at the point of origin of the light, namely immediately at the electrode, that is, at the spark, which is generated. An adulteration of the absorbed light by means of smoke or particle deposition on the light inlet window () can virtually be avoided.

Electrosurgical instrument comprising a light guide

A hemostasis instrument for actively stopping the bleeding, in particular after an open, laparoscopic, or endoscopic operation on a patient, having several hemostasis components. The hemostasis instrument has at least the following hemostasis components: a thermal hemostasis device for tissue coagulation by producing a temperature above the coagulation temperature of biological tissue by means of a coagulation electrode; a biochemical hemostasis device for producing a silent electric discharge by means of at least one discharge electrode, and an insulating device, wherein the insulating device is arranged between the discharge electrode and the tissue to be treated; a supplying device for supplying substances that influence blood clotting to the tissue to be treated; and a supply device for supplying noble gas to the tissue to be treated.

Surgical instrument with tissue recognition

An electrosurgical assembly is disclosed having an electrosurgical instrument, a detection device for detecting a predetermined constituent of the atmosphere in the region of a treatment site and a treatment unit, which can be connected to the instrument and a current generator for providing RF energy. The treatment unit includes a mechanism for influencing the treatment process depending on an output signal of the detection device.

Electrosurgical assembly and electrosurgical instrument

An anti carbonization device to prevent the carbonization of tissue upon plasma coagulation by a suitable surgical instrument, wherein the surgical instrument has a feed line for an oxidizing agent, a feed line for a gas and an electrode for generating a plasma. A gas-oxidizing agent mixture for generating a gas oxidizing agent plasma is provided by the anti-carbonization device.

Anti-carbonization device

A multi-functional element suitable for performing at least two surgical/therapeutic interventions, for example, the injection and cutting of tissue, with an anti-carbonization device to prevent the carbonization of tissue upon plasma coagulation by way of a suitable surgical instrument, where the surgical instrument has a feed line for an oxidizing agent, a feed line for a gas and an electrode for generating a plasma. A gas oxidizing agent mixture for producing a gas oxidizing agent plasma is provided by the anti-carbonization device.
