A flow angle sensor includes a sensing element, a background component connected to and movable with the sensing element, the background component having a marker, a lens adjacent the disk, an image sensor axially aligned with the lens, a light source positioned to illuminate the disk, and an image processing system connected to the image sensor. The image processing system provides an angle of attack output based on a location of the marker sensed by the image sensor.

A wiper apparatus includes a wiper axis interface configured for mounting a wiper assembly to a wiper drive. A lower wiper arm extends from the wiper axis interface to a wiper mount that is configured to connect the lower arm to an upper arm. A first end of the lower wiper arm proximate the wiper axis interface has a first airfoil profile and wall thickness. A second end of the lower wiper arm proximate the wiper mount has a second airfoil profile and wall thickness. An intermediate portion of the lower wiper arm extending between the first and second ends has a transitioning airfoil profile and thickness that transitions from the first airfoil profile and wall thickness to the second airfoil profile and wall thickness.

The faceplate includes a heated chassis defining a pocket and a mounting plate positioned adjacent the heated chassis and having an opening. An angle of attack sensor includes a housing having an open first end and a closed second end, a heated chassis positioned within the open first end of the housing, a mounting plate positioned on the heated chassis adjacent the open first end of the housing such that an internal chamber is formed between the heated chassis and the mounting plate, a transducer compartment between the heated chassis and the closed second end of the housing, and a water management system located adjacent the internal chamber and the transducer compartment. The water management system includes an annular chamber positioned in the internal chamber, a first tube at a first end of the annular chamber, and a second tube at a second end of the annular chamber. The first tube has a hole such that the first tube is in fluid communication with the annular chamber and the internal chamber, and the second tube is in fluid communication with the annular chamber and the transducer compartment.

A wiper arm assembly has a load member, a wiper arm, and a blade load cam with a cam slot. The load member mates with a joint disposed between first and second ends of the wiper arm. Changes in length of the load member impose a force in a lengthwise direction of the load member. The wiper arm is configured to rotate relative to the blade load cam about an axis proximate to the first end of the wiper arm. The cam slot is configured to vary the length of the load member as a function of a wiper angle in which the wiper angle is defined as the angle between the wiper arm and a starting position of the wiper arm.

The invention provides a probe for an aircraft including a strut having an interior passage accommodating a plurality of pneumatic lines, a probe head extending from the strut and having at least one inlet opening communicating with the pneumatic lines, a baseplate situated below the strut for attaching the probe to the aircraft, and a manifold situated below the baseplate for communicating with the pneumatic lines, wherein the baseplate is adapted and configured so that the pneumatic lines communicating with the manifold are thermally isolated from the baseplate. The invention also provides a method of thermally isolating at least one pneumatic line in an aircraft probe.
