Electrical connection system between a wheel and a bearing-hub assembly, the wheel being mounted on an outer flange of the bearing-hub assembly, and the bearing-hub assembly comprising a rotationally fixed outer ring attached to the vehicle's suspension and an inner ring provided with a centering collar, an open frontal cavity defined in the said centering collar and an axial cavity opening into the said cavity; the connection system having a first connection cable attached to the inner ring and extending inside the axial cavity and the frontal cavity, a second connection cable integrated with the wheel, and a connection element associated with the said centering collar to provide electrical contact that can be selectively disconnected between the first cable and the second cable.

Electrical connection system between a wheel and a bearing-hub assembly

An inductive transmission system for inductive transmission of power and full duplex data signals between first and second devices. The transmission system includes a bi-directional inductive channel between the two devices; a transmitter for transmitting a power signal at a first frequency from the first device to the second device over the inductive channel; a first modulating device for modulating a first data signal at a first modulation frequency; and a second modulating device for modulating a second data signal at a second modulation frequency. Further transmitters transmit the modulated first data signals from the first device to the second device over the inductive channel, and transmits the modulated second data signals from the second device to the first device over the inductive channel. The first modulation frequency and the second modulation frequency are at least a factor two apart.

Unidirectional power and bi-directional data transfer over a single inductive coupling

A bearing unit for a vehicle wheel hub is associated with a rotation sensing device and an electromagnetic inductive coupling. The rotation sensing device comprises an impulse ring () secured for rotation with the rotatable race () of the bearing unit by means of a rotatable annular carrier (), and a magnetic/electric transducer () mounted to the stationary race () of the bearing unit by means of a stationary annular carrier () and operatively facing the impulse ring (). The electromagnetic inductive coupling comprises a stationary coil () electrically connectable to a power supply () and carried by the stationary annular carrier (), and a rotatable coil () electrically connectable () to an electric or electronic device mounted on the wheel. The rotatable coil () is carried by the rotatable annular carrier () and is electromagnetically linked to the stationary coil ().
