The present invention relates to a process for preparing a polyester carbonate on the basis of aliphatic diacids and aliphatic diols and to the polyester carbonate prepared according to the process and to a moulding mass and moulding body containing the polyester carbonate. The process according to the invention is a direct synthesis in which all structural elements forming the subsequent polyester carbonate are already present as monomers in the first process step and in which two catalysts are used.

Polyester carbonates from aliphatic diacids and aliphatic diols, and process for the production thereof

A sensor system comprises a LiDAR unit, a camera for visible light and a cover through which light arrives at the LiDAR unit and the camera. The cover comprises a layer containing dyes. The light transmission of the cover in the range from 380 nm to 780 nm is 3% to 25% and in the range from 380 nm to 1100 nm is 40% or more. The attenuation of the LiDAR signal by the cover is such that at least 65% of the original signal intensity reaches the LiDAR detector. The layer containing dyes contains a composition comprising i) at least 70% by weight of a transparent thermoplastic polymer, ii) at least one green and/or red dye and iii) at least one red and/or violet dye. The product of the sum of the weight % fractions of dyes ii) and iii) and the thickness of the layer containing dyes is 0.041 to 0.12 wt % mm. Finally, the composition contains 0% to 0.0005% by weight of IR absorbers.

Surroundings sensor with a movable sensor unit for motor vehicles

The invention relates to opaque colored multilayer articles having a substrate layer based on polycarbonate or polymethylmethacrylate. The compositions of the substrate layer contain a titanium dioxide having particular properties as white pigment. Compared to the Kronos® 2230 white pigment which is conventionally used as white pigment for corresponding compositions and has more particularly been specially matched to polycarbonate, it is possible to achieve considerably higher weathering stability of the colored shaped bodies provided that a UV absorber-containing coating has been applied to the substrate layer. Color stability and gloss are maintained even after weathering, and brilliant colors can thus be assured.

The invention relates to a composition obtainable by mixing polycarbonate, unsized talc and a specific anhydride-modified alpha-olefin polymer, wherein the amounts of the talc and the specific anhydride-modified alpha-olefin polymer are matched to one another such that, for every 10 parts by weight of the talc, 0.10 to 1.4 parts by weight of the anhydride-modified alpha-olefin polymer are used. It has been shown that in situ sizing of talc with the wax can minimize the degradation of the polycarbonate only in the course of mixing with the polycarbonate and, at the same time, properties such as multiaxial impact resistance and flowability can be improved.

A composition consisting of a thermoplastic material based on polycarbonate is used here for forming the substrate layer of a cover for the sensor with respect to the surroundings. Transparent multilayer structure for thermal management

The invention relates to the use of branched aliphatic hydrocarbons such as squalane in compositions based on thermoplastic polymer, in particular on polycarbonate, which are used for producing molded parts used in LED lighting units, such as covers for instance. According to the invention it has been found that the use of branched aliphatic hydrocarbons makes it possible to enhance the total transmission and the transmission in the range from 360 to 460 nm, thus making corresponding compositions particularly suitable for producing molded parts for use in combination with white LED light sources.
