A vehicle steer-by-wire system includes two front wheels of the vehicle, a steering wheel adapted to receive a steering input, and a steer-by-wire module configured to electronically transmit a steering signal to control a steering orientation of the two front wheels according to the steering input received at the steering wheel, sense a feedback parameter of the two front wheels, and supply a steering feedback signal to the steering wheel according to the sensed feedback parameter of the two front wheels. The system includes one or more vehicle sensors configured to sense at least one operating parameter of the vehicle, and a steering feedback control module configured to receive the at least one operating parameter of the vehicle, determine a driving intensity index according to the at least one operating parameter, and modify the steering feedback signal supplied to the steering wheel according to the determined driving intensity index.

A system for detecting and warning a user of an object in a path of a vehicle includes a detection module configured to detect an object in a path of a vehicle, and a control module in communication with the detection module. The control module is configured to receive vehicle data from one or more vehicle sensors, determine a height of the detected object, determine a ground clearance of the vehicle based on the received vehicle data, and in response to the height of the detected object being greater than a threshold based on the ground clearance of the vehicle, generate a signal to notify the user of the detected object. Systems and methods for detecting and warning users of objects in vehicle paths

A system comprises a processor and a memory storing instructions which when executed by the processor configure the processor to estimate a rack force for a steering system of a vehicle based on current driving and environmental conditions and estimate a health of an actuator of the steering system of the vehicle. The instructions configure the processor to estimate maximum achievable angle, velocity, and acceleration for the actuator of the steering system based on the estimated rack force and the estimated health of the actuator. The instructions configure the processor to provide to the steering system a path planned for the vehicle based on the estimated maximum achievable angle, velocity, and acceleration for the actuator of the steering system.

Real-time estimation of achievable angle, velocity, and acceleration capabilities of steering actuator

A power circuit includes a power source and a plurality components that connect the power source to a subsystem of a vehicle. A fault detection module receives voltages at an output of the power source and at an input of the subsystem and current drawn by the subsystem, and distinguishes between a power source failure, a permanent and an intermittent disconnection of one of the components from the power source, and a loose connection between the power circuit and the subsystem or corrosion of one of the components, based on analyses of the voltages and the current. A fault mitigation module mitigates the first two faults by switching to a different power source in the vehicle to supply power to the subsystem, and mitigates the third and fourth faults by reducing the power consumed by the subsystem and by generating a warning regarding the intermittent disconnection or loose connection.

Fault isolation, prognosis, and mitigation for vehicle component electrical power circuit

A method for performing operations onboard a vehicle is provided. The method obtains a steering calibration command, by a computing device communicatively coupled to a steering mechanism for the vehicle; initiates execution of the steering calibration command, by the computing device via the steering mechanism; determines at least one maximum steering angle of the vehicle, based on execution of the steering calibration command, the at least one maximum steering angle being associated with a maximum potential position of the steering mechanism; identifies a zero-position center of the steering mechanism, based on the at least one maximum steering angle of the vehicle; stores the zero-position center and the at least one maximum steering angle, by the computing device, for future use; and broadcasts the zero-position center and the at least one maximum steering angle, via a Controller Area Network (CAN) bus of the vehicle, by the communication device.
