A chainring protection system includes a chainring having a torque input section and a torque output section. The torque output section is radially outer relative to the torque input section and has a plurality of teeth. The chainring protection system also includes a cover connected to the chainring, such that the cover at least partially covers a circumferential portion of the torque output section. The circumferential portion of the torque output section includes less than all teeth of the plurality of teeth.

A bicycle operating apparatus includes a carrier element having fastening device for fixing the apparatus to the handlebar; a housing, on the carrier element, having an electronic circuit arrangement in the housing; a first and a second switch, each connected to the electronic circuit arrangement, are on the housing; and an operating component mounted on the carrier element pivotable about an operating axis preloaded into a neutral position, the operating component deflected out of the neutral position in a first direction of rotation about the operating axis to actuate the first switch, and deflected out of the neutral position in a second direction opposite to the first direction to actuate the second switch, where the operating component includes a first operating element and a second operating element that are formed separately from one another in one piece and are mounted on the carrier element pivotable about the operating axis.

At least one of the modules is replaceable and handleable in one piece. At least one of the modules includes at least one sub-assembly that is replaceable and handleable in one piece. In an embodiment the modular construction system is configured to use at least one family of sub-assemblies comprising at least two family members within at least one of the modules. Detachable connection interfaces of the family members to adjacent sub-assemblies of the module within the sub-assembly family are configured uniformly across family members for the respective sub-assembly family in such a way that a family member of the sub-assembly family of the module is exchangeable for another family member of the same sub-assembly family that, is for example, of different material, of different design, of different functionality or has different surface properties, while retaining the remaining sub-assemblies of the module.

A bicycle operating apparatus for wirelessly controlling at least one component of a bicycle includes a carrier element on a fastening device for fixing the bicycle operating apparatus to a handlebar of the bicycle, a housing attachable to the carrier element having an energy storage compartment for receiving an energy storage element and having an electronic circuit arrangement in the housing. At least one switch is connected to the electronic circuit arrangement on the housing. An operating component mounted on the carrier element to be pivotable about an operating axis preloaded into a neutral position which is able to be deflected out of the neutral position in a first direction of rotation about the operating axis in order to actuate the switch, and the operating axis extends obliquely with respect to the flat outer surface.

A control device for a bicycle is arranged or can be arranged on the handlebar of the bicycle and serves to wirelessly drive at least one electronic, electrical, electromechanical or electrohydraulic component of the bicycle. The control device includes an operator control arrangement which has at least one manually operable operator control element and is designed to respond to operation of the operator control element and to output electrical signals which represent the operation. The control device also includes at least one electronic circuit arrangement comprising a radio communication circuit and a control circuit which is connected or can be connected to the operator control arrangement. The control device also may include at least one antenna which is connected or can be connected to the radio communication circuit or which is integrated into the said communication circuit.
