A module and a process for forming a monolithic substantially closed-porosity silicon carbide fluidic module having a tortuous fluid passage extending through the module, the tortuous fluid passage having an interior surface, the interior surface having a surface roughness in the range of from 0.1 to 10 μm Ra. The process includes positioning a positive fluid passage mold within a volume of silicon carbide powder, the powder coated with a binder; pressing the volume of silicon carbide powder with the mold inside to form a pressed body; heating the pressed body to remove the mold; and sintering the pressed body.

Fabrication of flow reactor modules and modules produced

A fiber optic assembly is provided including a support substrate having a substantially planar surface, a signal-fiber array supported on the planar surface of the support substrate. The signal-fiber array including a plurality of optical fibers and an adhesive disposed on the plurality of optical fibers and the support substrate. Each of the optical fibers is spaced from adjacent optical fibers of the plurality of optical fibers at a precise pitch.

High-density FAUs and optical interconnection devices and related methods

A tiled display having pixels arranged in rows and columns, and including first and second tiles. The tiles comprise a substrate carrying a matrix of pixels arranged at a pixel pitch. The substrates comprise an edge extending between opposing faces in a depth direction. The substrate edges have a complementary shape, and face one another to establish a seam. The pixel pitch is maintained across the seam. Pixels of the second tile are not interposed between pixels of the first tile. The complementary shape includes a segment of the seam being oblique to the pixel rows, or the substrate edge of the first tile profiled in the depth direction whereby at least a section of the edge is non-perpendicular to the faces. The tiled display can maintain the pixel pitch at the seams at high resolutions (e.g., pixel pitch less than 0.5 mm).

Tiled displays and methods of manufacturing the same

Optical assemblies and lensed connector ferrule assemblies having one or more optical fibers aligned to one or more lenses of a lens substrate and methods of their manufacture are disclosed. In one embodiment, an optical assembly includes a ferrule and a mirror surface. The ferrule includes a lens holder having a lens substrate cavity and an engagement surface. The ferrule further includes a lens substrate disposed within the lens substrate cavity. The lens substrate has at least one lens. The mirror surface is coupled to the engagement surface such that the at least one lens is offset from the mirror surface by an offset distance.
