An in-mold sealing system for sealing openings in a wind turbine blade mold, the system including a wind turbine blade mold having an interior surface configured to form a surface of the wind turbine blade, the interior surface of the mold having at least one opening therein, at least one boss disposed within the at least one opening of the mold, the boss extending a distance beyond the interior surface of the mold, a flexible diaphragm having opposing first and second surfaces, with the first surface facing the mold, the flexible diaphragm disposed over the opening in the mold surface and a gasket, the gasket having a first surface coupled to a perimeter portion of the flexible diaphragm, and a second surface coupled to the interior surface of the mold, wherein the gasket circumscribes the opening.

A method for fabrication of a composite structure including providing a mold configured for forming a composite structure, providing at least one magnetic anchor, the at least one magnetic anchor disposed within the mold, providing at least one optical marker, the optical marker magnetically coupled to the at least one magnetic anchor, providing an optical projector, the optical projector projecting at least one optical beam directed towards at least one optical marker, receiving at least one reflective beam from the at least one optical projector to identify the location of the optical marker disposed on the mold, calibrating the optical projector by comparing a predetermined virtual optical marker location to the identified optical marker location.

A wind turbine blade mold including a first mold surface, at least one aperture located within the first mold surface, the at least one aperture configured to receive at least one pin, the least one pin having a first end and a second end defining a length extending therebetween, the second end of the pin disposed within a pin driver, the pin driver disposed on a second mold surface, the pin driver configured to displace the at least one pin from a retracted position wherein the first end of the at least one pin is disposed below the first mold surface, to an extended position wherein the first end of the at least one pin is disposed above the first mold surface.

The present disclosure provides for a root plate assembly system, an axially adjustable, rigid connection between a metallic (e.g. steel) root plate and a composite root flange of a wind turbine blade mold. The system includes a root plate including a flange portion with at least one aperture disposed therein. The system includes a sealing collar disposed within the aperture in the root plate. The system includes at least one washer having a larger diameter than the aperture in the root plate. The system includes a threaded collar having a longitudinally extending channel and threads on an outer surfaces thereof. The system includes a fastener disposed at least partially within the longitudinally extending channel of the threaded collar. The system includes a locknut disposed above the fastener abutting the fastener and a bolt cover disposed over the locknut, the bolt cover abutting the collar.
