Requests can be routed in a distributed system. When a distributed system includes a core service in which a plurality of plugins run and includes a plurality of clients that run external to the core service, the core service can provide a command router that functions as a common mechanism for routing requests to the plugins. The command router can provide an external endpoint by which the external clients can submit requests to access functionality of the plugins. The command router can also provide an internal endpoint by which the plugins can submit requests to access other plugins. Employing a command router within the core service can facilitate adding and removing plugins.

Routing requests in a distributed system

Toast notifications can be managed via a toast adapter and plugins. A toast adapter can function as an intermediary between a service and an application that interfaces with the Windows toast framework. The service can employ plugins that are configured to send toast requests to the toast adapter. The toast requests can include metadata from which the toast adapter can construct toast content. The toast adapter can then interface with the application to submit the toast content to the Windows toast framework to cause the toast notifications to be displayed. When a user interacts with a toast notification, the arguments that the Windows toast framework provides can be relayed by the application to the toast adapter. The toast adapter may then identify which plugin was the source of the toast notification and provide an indication of the user's interaction with the toast notification to the plugin.

Managing toast notifications via a toast adapter and plugins

A method for deploying dependencies includes determining a first component included in an application package and generating a first driver package for the first component that includes an information file. The method also includes updating the information file to include a dependency of the first component and storing the first driver package to a repository. The first driver package includes first binaries to install the first component. The method further includes downloading the first driver package to an information handling system and determining the dependency of the first component by parsing the information file. If the second component is the dependency, the method determines whether the second component is installed in the information handling system. If the second component is not installed, the method adds the second component to a device manager to trigger a download and installation of a second driver package for the second component.

System and method for dynamically installing driver dependencies

In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, an information handling system may include a processor and a non-transitory computer-readable medium embodying a program of instructions, the program of instructions configured to, when read and executed by the processor: receive a toast notification trigger; and responsive to the toast notification trigger, launch an instance of an application associated with the toast notification trigger and communicate arguments related to a toast notification to the application via an application protocol of the application in order to bridge communication between legacy stack components and containerized stack solutions of an operating system, such that the application issues to the operating system a request to display a toast notification responsive to the toast notification trigger and completes a toast action responsive to user interaction with the toast notification.
