A device may transmit, periodically, an advertisement packet on an advertisement channel associated with a UWB channel. The device may transmit, according to a UWB channel usage pattern indicated by the advertisement packet, on the UWB channel. The advertisement packet may include a UWB transmit start time offset, a UWB transmit duration, a UWB transmit interval, information to determine a UWB transmit interval, and/or a UWB transmission type.

Ultra-wide band channel access-periodic reservation

A method adapts a time synchronization between a mobile device and a transceiver module of a plurality of transceiver modules, wherein the method is performed by the transceiver module. The method includes listening, in at least some of a plurality of time slots, for a time synchronization signal from a further transceiver module of the plurality of transceiver modules, wherein each time slot of the plurality of time slots is allocated to a corresponding transceiver module of the plurality of transceiver modules. The method also includes adapting the time synchronization when a received time synchronization signal has a higher estimated accuracy than the time synchronization between the mobile device and the transceiver module. The method further includes transmitting a time synchronization signal for the further transceiver modules based at least in part on the time synchronization between the mobile device and the transceiver module.

Methods, systems, and devices are provided for wireless communication. A wireless communication device includes a transceiver to communicate with another wireless communication device. The wireless communication device further includes a processor to determine a pseudo-random value using a non-recursive function having at least one non-linear component. The processor further selects a wireless resource based on the pseudo-random value and uses the wireless resource for a wireless communication with the other wireless communication device.

A wireless device may use 2.5 MHz narrow band channel spacing. In some embodiments, clear channel assessment based listen before talk may be used to determine if a channel is idle or busy. In some embodiments, an avoid loitering mechanism may be employed to reduce interference with transmitters using the same frequency bands.

Methods and devices related to determining a propagation time of wireless transmissions between wireless communication devices are provided. A propagation time of wireless transmissions between a first wireless communication device and a second wireless communication device is determined. The determining is based on a roundtrip time of a wireless transmission exchange between the first wireless communication device and the second wireless communication device, a reply time of the wireless transmission exchange, and on the first time interval and the second time interval. The first time interval is a time interval between a first transmit event at the first wireless communication device and a second transmit event at the first wireless communication device. The second time interval is a time interval between a first receive event at the second wireless communication device and a second receive event at the second wireless communication device.

Systems, methods, and mechanisms for an out-of-band (OOB) ultra-wide band (UWB) channel arbitration and/or channel coordination scheme. A device may scan an arbitration channel for a first time period, and based on the scanning, that the arbitration channel is not in use. The device may perform, on the arbitration channel, a first channel access procedure and perform, on the UWB channel, UWB communications during a UWB channel transmission opportunity.

An apparatus for a vehicle includes processing circuitry configured to obtain identification information on a future passenger of the vehicle, the identification information comprising an ultra-wideband communication identification of a mobile device of the future passenger. The processing circuitry is also configured to locate the future passenger outside the vehicle using ultra-wideband communication, the ultra-wideband communication being performed between an ultra-wideband transceiver of the vehicle and the mobile device of the future passenger and being based on the ultra-wideband communication identification of the mobile device. A master-slave system for communication over an ultra-wideband radio connection is proposed. The master-slave system comprises at least one slave device and one master device, wherein the slave device and the master device are configured to communicate over the ultra-wideband radio connection. The master device is configured to generate and transmit a request message to the slave device over a first channel of the ultra-wideband radio connection. The slave device is configured to receive the request message over the first channel of the ultra-wideband radio connection, generate at least one response message based on the request message, and transmit the at least one response message to the master device over the first channel of the ultra-wideband radio connection, and the master device is configured to receive the at least one response message. Further, the master device is configured to classify the first channel of the ultra-wideband radio connection as suitable or unsuitable for data transmission based on the at least one received response message and to transmit further messages on the first channel of the ultra-wideband radio connection or to change to another channel of the ultra-wideband radio connection based on the classification.

Master-slave system

A method for determining an occupied region of a first radio device is provided. According to the method, a signal is transmitted from the first radio device and received by at least two additional radio devices. Based on a propagation time of the signal from the first radio device to the additional radio devices, a surrounding region is determined around each of the additional radio devices in which the first radio device is located. The occupied region of the first radio device is determined based on an overlapping region which results from an overlapping of all surrounding regions. Alternatively, signals can also be transmitted from the additional radio devices and received by the first radio device. The method can be used to determine whether an automobile key having a radio transmitter is located in a vehicle.

A master-slave system for communication over a Bluetooth Low Energy connection includes at least one slave device and at least one master device. The slave device and the master device are configured to communicate over the Bluetooth Low Energy connection. The slave device has a communication unit and a processing unit, the processing unit of the slave device being configured to generate a first query message with a header field and a payload field, the processing unit of the slave device being further configured to generate a first identity information item based on a first stored key and to save it as the first information item in the header field, and the communication unit of the slave device being configured to transmit the first query message thus generated to the master device over the Bluetooth Low Energy connection. The processing unit of the slave device is configured to generate at least one second identity information item differing from the first identity information item based on at least one second stored key and to store at least a part of the at least one second identity information item as at least a second information item in the payload field of the first query message.
