Provided herein are systems and methods for performing localization within a patient. A method of localization within a body comprises providing at least one processor coupled to at least one data storage device, establishing and calibrating a localization coordinate system within a body by executing a first localization mode by the at least one processor, recalibrating the localization coordinate system by executing a second localization mode by the at least one processor, and localizing a device within the localization coordinate system using the first localization mode and the second localization mode, by the at least one processor. The first localization mode can be an impedance-based localization mode and the second localization mode can be magnetic-based localization mode, or vice versa.

Systems and methods for performing localization within a body

An ablation system comprises: an ablation catheter and a console. The ablation catheter comprises: a shaft including a proximal end, a distal portion and a distal end; an ablation element configured to deliver energy to tissue; and a force maintenance assembly comprising a force maintenance element and configured to control and/or assess contact force between the ablation element and cardiac tissue. The console is configured to operably attach to the ablation catheter and comprises: an energy delivery assembly configured to provide energy to the ablation element. Methods of ablating tissue are also provided.

Ablation system with force control

Devices, systems and methods are disclosed for the ablation of tissue. A steerable ablation catheter can include one or more ablation elements at its distal end and one or more ablation elements fixedly attached to its shaft. The distal end of the ablation catheter can be deflected to assume a number of different deflection geometries in at least one direction along the shaft. One feature of the ablation catheter is that its shaft can comprise materials of differing durometers or stiffnesses attached together at a joint. Methods associated with use of the ablation catheter are also covered.

Cutting balloon catheter having flexible atherotomes

Devices, systems and methods are disclosed for the mapping of electrical signals and the ablation of tissue. Embodiments include an ablation catheter that has an array of ablation elements attached to a deployable carrier assembly. The carrier assembly can be transformed from a compact, linear configuration to a helical configuration, such as to map and ablate pulmonary vein ostia.

Ablation catheter

A medical system is provided, including a catheter body having a proximal portion and a distal portion; a shaft slidably disposed within a portion of the catheter body, the shaft defining a distal tip; a fluid injection tube coupled to the distal portion of the catheter body and the distal tip of the shaft, the fluid injection tube being transitionable from a first geometric configuration to a second geometric configuration; a membrane coupled to the shaft and enclosing at least a portion of the fluid injection tube therein; and a coolant source in fluid communication with the fluid injection tube. The first geometric configuration may be substantially linear, the second geometric configuration may be substantially helical, and the membrane may be tensioned across at least a portion of the fluid injection tube in the second geometric configuration.

A medical device is disclosed, including a catheter body; an electrode array coupled to the catheter body, the electrode array being transitionable from a substantially linear configuration to a substantially helical configuration; and a fluid conduit coupled to the catheter body spaced apart from the electrode array, wherein the fluid conduit is transitionable from a substantially linear configuration to a substantially helical configuration. The device may include a fluid source in communication with the fluid conduit and a radiofrequency signal generator coupled to the electrode array.

A medical system, including a catheter having a fluid flow path and a distal portion separated from the fluid flow path; a plurality of electrodes coupled to the distal portion; at least one temperature sensor coupled to the distal portion; a heat sink in thermal communication with each electrode and in fluid communication with the fluid flow path; a radiofrequency signal generator in communication with the plurality of electrodes; and a fluid source in fluid communication with the fluid flow path.
