A user interface of a device is operated, wherein the user interface comprises a touch sensitive display device. Operation includes, while operating the device in a limited accessibility mode, detecting that an initial gesture has been received by the touch sensitive display device. When entering a fully accessible mode of operation, the user interface is operated in a scaled mode if the detected initial gesture is a first mode changing gesture, otherwise the user interface is operated in a full-size mode. When an application or system software produces an output image to be displayed on the device, operating the user interface in the full-size mode comprises displaying the output image over a first area of the touch sensitive display device; and accepting touch input of the application or system software at a set of input touch points lying within the first area of the touch sensitive display device. Operating the user interface in the scaled mode comprises scaling the output image and displaying the scaled output image over a scaled area of the touch sensitive display device, wherein the scaled area is smaller than the first area; and scaling the set of input touch points such that the scaled set of input touch points lie within the scaled area of the touch sensitive display device, wherein a size of the scaled area of the touch sensitive display is related to a first set of one or more detected points within the first mode changing gesture; and a location of the scaled area of the touch sensitive display is related to a second set of one or more detected points within the first mode changing gesture.

One-handed scaled down user interface mode

An apparatus () and method () disclosed herein embody techniques for adapting read operations with respect to a touch sensor (), to avoid or mitigate touch-detection problems arising from inoperative sensing lines () used to detect touch inputs to a touch surface () of the touch sensor (). A particular advantage is that the avoidance or mitigation techniques address instances of touch sensor malfunctioning that involve isolated instances of sensing-line malfunctions. A further advantage is that the technique allows for continued 'normal' organization, sizing, and placement of user-interface elements displayed on the touch surface ()—e.g., a touchscreen display surface—because the technique provides for touch detection in regions of the touch surface () affected by inoperative sensing lines (), at least in cases where an inoperative sensing line () is bounded by operative sensing lines ().

Method and apparatus for adapting operation of a device to touch-sensor malfunctions

A technique for performing partial reads of a touch sensor () provides several advantages, including scalability to touch sensors with high sensing-line counts, and reductions in operating power. The technique involves identifying a region () of the touch surface () of the touch sensor () to be read and performing a partial read directed to the identified region. Rather than exciting all sensing lines of the touch surface (), the partial read excites one or more of the sensing lines () that are involved with the identified region (), without exciting one or more of the uninvolved sensing lines (). Identifying the region or regions () to be read involves, for example, obtaining touch-control information from a software application () running on a host device () that includes the touch sensor ().

Method and apparatus for performing partial reads of a touch sensor

An apparatus () and method () provide power-efficient reading of a touch sensor () by performing transform-based reading of the touch sensor () according to a read configuration () that accounts for touch-surface areas that are indicated as touch targets () for receiving touch input. Advantages such as power savings and more robust touch detection flow from the intelligent selection of which sensing lines () of the touch sensor () to excite and which excitation frequencies () to use for exciting them.

Method and apparatus for interfacing with a touch sensor

Methods and apparatus are provided. In an example aspect, a method () of estimating a location of a User Equipment (UE) is provided. The method comprises determining () whether a signal transmitted between the UE and a first network node has a line-of-sight (LoS) path between the UE and the first network node, and estimating () the location of the UE based on the signal received at the first network node and based on whether the signal has a LoS path.

Methods () and apparatuses () disclosed herein embody a technique for reading a touch sensor () that provides several advantages, including scalability to touch sensors with high column/row counts and reductions in operating power. 'Reading' in this context refers to the application of one or more excitation frequencies to one or more column lines () and row lines () used for detecting touch inputs to a touch surface () of the touch sensor (), along with the corresponding transformation of the resulting sensing signals into frequency domain values and evaluation of the values () corresponding to the excitation frequencies. The technique in an example implementation involves a hierarchical reading scheme that divides the touch surface (), or any portion thereof, into regions, and performs initial touch detection at the per-region resolution, with subsequent higher-resolution reading of at least the region(s) where touch inputs have been detected.

In one example aspect, a device comprises an organic light emitting diode (OLED) display. The display comprises a transparent or semi-transparent substrate and includes a first region comprising a plurality of first pixels and a second region comprising a plurality of second pixels. A first proportion of each first pixel comprises a first light emissive area, a second proportion of each second pixel comprises a second light emissive area, and the first proportion is different to the second proportion, wherein the first proportion comprises a ratio of a size of the first light emissive area to a size of each first pixel, and the second proportion comprises a ratio of a size of the second light emissive area to a size of each second pixel.

Organic light emitting diode (OLED) display and method of producing OLED display

A technique for reading the columns and rows of a touch sensor provides several advantages, including scalability to touch sensors with high column/row counts. Reading the touch sensor relies on combining the row or column outputs of the touch sensor, during column and/or row excitation of the touch sensor, with the resulting combined signal or signals transformed into the frequency domain and touch detection based on evaluation of the frequency-domain values corresponding to the excitation frequencies.

An object detection device has a controller configured to receive classification data and regions for an image. The regions are prioritized and if a region is selected for further prediction, a photographic feature for the selected region is determined and a re-capture of the selected region is made based on the photographic feature by updating an image capturing device. The re-captured region is re-processed and classification data is re-generated. Then, final object detection for selected region(s) is performed and final object detection for not-selected region(s) is performed.

Object detection

A method of detecting objects in a video includes, for each image in the video, determining a degree of correlation between the image and at least one preceding image in a sequence of images; and obtaining a first measure of energy consumption required for performing an object detection process on the image, obtaining a second measure of energy consumption required for performing an object tracking process for tracking at least one object from a previous image, and comparing the first and second measures of energy. The object detection process is performed on the image if either said degree of correlation is below a threshold level or said first measure of energy is lower than the second measure of energy, and otherwise the object tracking process is performed on the image.

Embodiments include methods of activating a display screen of a device. Such methods include establishing respective connections with one or more candidate devices, each having a candidate display screen, and obtaining angle of arrival information of respective signals transmitted from the candidate display screens or from the candidate devices. Such methods include selecting a display screen from the candidate display screens based on the angle of arrival information indicating that selected display screen is in a direction of gaze of the eye of the user, causing a confirmation code to be displayed on the selected display screen, and obtaining an image of the selected display screen having the confirmation code displayed thereon. Such methods include activating the selected display screen from an off or locked state based on detecting the confirmation code in the obtained image. Other embodiments include host systems configured to perform such methods.

A method, performed by an electronic device for triggering a function of the electronic device, wherein the electronic device comprises a button which comprises a mechanical switch actuator for triggering a function related to the button, an electromagnetic sensor for sensing touch and/or proximity of an object interacting with the button and a responsive material structure for providing haptic feedback to the object is provided. The electronic device senses touch and/or proximity of the object with the electromagnetic sensor. The electronic device generates a haptic feedback with the responsive material structure in response to sensing the touch and/or proximity of the object. The haptic feedback is associated with the function which is triggered by the mechanical switch actuator. The electronic device triggers the function in response to the mechanical switch actuator being actuated.

An image processing system () and method therein for processing streaming media content to reduce disturbing spatial and/or temporal phenomena before being displayed on a device display. The image processing system () receives media stream comprising sequences of video frames into a buffer () and analyzes the video frames during streaming. The analyzing () is performed either on completely decoded or partially decoded video frames within a Group of Picture (GOP) to detect disturbing spatial and/or temporal phenomena. If a disturbing spatial and/or temporal phenomenon is detected, the image processing system () processes () the decoded video frames to reduce the disturbing spatial and/or temporal phenomenon based on user settings of the device and displays the processed video frames on the display ().
