The present invention concerns a method for producing a microscopic image with an extended depth of field by means of a microscope. The microscope comprises an images sensor that comprises pixels that are arranged as a matrix that is formed by lines. In a step of the method, a plurality of microscopic frames of a specimen is acquired while a focus position (z) is changed. The microscopic frames are acquired line by line. The focus position (z) is changed over a course of acquiring individuals of the microscopic frames. In a further step, parts of individuals of the acquired lines are identified. These parts sharply image the specimen. The identified parts of the lines are composed in order to form a microscopic image of the specimen with an extended depth of field. Furthermore, the present invention concerns a microscope.

The invention relates first to a camera module for a microscope. The camera module comprises an optical interface for inserting the camera module into an imaging beam path of the microscope, which imaging beam path images a nominal intermediate image. Furthermore, the camera module comprises an electronic image converter and a functional element for changing an intermediate image plane, which functional element is arranged in a beam path of the camera module between the optical interface and the image converter. The camera module also comprises a first optical assembly having an optical power, which first optical assembly is arranged in the beam path between the optical interface and the image converter. According to the invention, a distance between the functional element and the optical interface along the beam path or a distance between the first optical assembly and the optical interface along the beam path can be changed. The present invention relates to a method for viewing a specimen using a microscope which comprises an objective lens and an image sensor for converting an image formed on the image sensor by the objective lens. A field of view of the microscope can be varied by selecting a section of the image sensor. In one step of the method, an initial image of at least a partial section of the specimen is captured with the microscope, for which a first field of view is selected on the microscope. The initial image is analyzed to determine at least two differing fields of view forming a partial area image, wherein a partial area of the initial image is formed by each of the fields of view forming a partial area image. Images of the partial areas of the specimen are captured for each of the determined fields of view forming a partial area image. The invention further relates to a microscope for viewing a specimen using a microscope.

A device for recording images is provided, an image-recording device and an illumination device being arranged on the same side of a specimen plane in said device. The image-recording device has illumination portions, for example individual light sources, which are actuatable independently of one another in order to be able to illuminate a specimen in the specimen plane at different angles and/or from different directions. The present invention relates to a digital microscope that includes an objective lens for enlarged optical imaging of a sample in an image plane. An image with an optical resolution may be represented in the image plane by means of the objective lens. The microscope also includes an image sensor for converting the image, depicted on the image sensor by the objective lens, into an electrical signal. The image sensor includes a matrix of pixels by means of which a maximum image resolution of the image sensor is determined, which is finer than the optical resolution of the objective lens. The objective lens has a maximum magnification factor of at most 40. The optical resolution of the objective lens is defined as a minimum distance between two structures that are distinguishable in the image. The maximum image resolution of the image sensor is defined by a pixel pitch. A quotient of the minimum distance between two structures that are distinguishable in the image and the pixel pitch defines a scanning factor that is at least 5.

A method for correcting colors of a color reproduction of a digital microscope and a digital microscope are described. In a first step of a method according to the invention, a color image of a sample that is to be examined under the microscope is recorded. When the recording is performed, wavelength-dependent properties of a microscope illumination unit that illuminates the sample are determined in order to describe a state of the microscope illumination unit, in that settings selected at the microscope illumination unit are captured. A set of correction values is determined, which is associated with a state of the microscope illumination unit that is selected in accordance with the state of the microscope illumination unit determined when the recording is performed. In a further step, the colors of the recorded color image of the sample are corrected by applying the correction values of the previously determined set.
