A steer-by-wire system for a land vehicle, having a steering wheel, a feedback actuator, a detection device equipped to detect a driver's intention to enter the vehicle and/or a driver's intention to exit the vehicle, and an electronic control system, which, following detection of the intention to enter the vehicle and/or the intention to exit the vehicle controls the feedback actuator to hold the steering wheel in a predetermined rotational position by generating a holding torque. When an actuating torque which exceeds the holding torque is applied manually to the steering wheel and the steering wheel is rotated out of the predetermined rotational position, the electronic control system continuously approximates a turning angle of the predetermined rotational position to a turning angle of a current rotational position of the steering wheel using a specified time-based adjustment function based on a difference between the actuating torque and the holding torque.

The eddy current brake may be connected in a force-transmitting manner to an axle to which the steering wheel is connected, and to the steering wheel, in a force-transmitting manner.

Eddy current based rotary damper for steer-by-wire feedback actuator

A steering mechanism for simulating a haptic feedback steering sensation includes a steering shaft connected to a steering wheel. An angle measuring device is arranged on the steering shaft and measures a rotation angle that is prevailing at the steering wheel the steering mechanism further includes an electric motor arranged in a coaxial manner with respect to the steering shaft. The electric motor is configured to apply a torque to the steering shaft. The direction of rotation of the torque applied by the electric motor is usually oriented in the opposite direction to the direction of rotation of the rotation angle that is prevailing at the steering wheel. Furthermore, the magnitude of the torque is dependent upon the value of the rotation angle and upon the vehicle model that is used as a basis. The electric motor is connected to the steering shaft via a torsionally elastic coupling.

A power assist device for supporting steering of a motor vehicle includes a steering column shaft and a housing. The shaft has a rotor and the housing has a stator. The stator is arranged in the radial direction with respect to the rotor. The rotor is a disk, and at least one magnet is arranged on the radially outer edge of said rotor.

A gear unit for a motor vehicle including a rotatable worm gear shaft rotating about a rotation axis and cooperating with a worm gear wheel in an engagement region spaced from the rotation axis. A pivotable rotary bearing mounts the worm gear shaft on a housing on one side of the engagement region and a loose rotary bearing, pretensioned in the direction of the spacing axis, mounts the other side in the housing. A support device supports the pivotable rotary bearing on the housing in the direction of the rotation axis. To optimize engagement between a worm gear shaft and a worm gear wheel, the pivotable rotary bearing pivots relative to the housing about a pivot axis perpendicular to the rotation axis and to the spacing axis. A support point of the support device is offset relative to the rotation axis along the spacing axis towards the engagement region.

A bearing arrangement for supporting an endless screw of a steering gear on a gear housing of the steering gear. The bearing arrangement including a radial bearing rotationally connected to the endless screw. A resilient retention element connecting the radial bearing to the gear housing. The retention element is connected at the radial bearing side to an outer face of an outer bearing ring and fixed to the outer face of the outer bearing ring in an axially non-movable manner with respect to a longitudinal center axis of the radial bearing.
