A device has a work piece spindle for accommodating a bevel gear work piece, a tool spindle for accommodating a grinding wheel having an abrasive surface, and a plurality of drives for machining the bevel gear work piece. During machining of the bevel gear work piece, the grinding wheel rotates about the rotational axis of the tool spindle and engages the bevel gear work piece to remove material. The rotation is superimposed with an eccentric movement such that the grinding wheel only engages the bevel gear work piece at n contact regions of the abrasive surface. The device is configured to allow adjustment of the eccentric movement after a first machining phase and to specify m contact regions of the abrasive surface in a further machining pase, wherein the m contact regions do not overlap with the n contact regions.

Device and method for machining bevel gears using an eccentrically moved grinding tool

A method of chip-removal machining a tooth gap of a work piece includes executing a first substantially linear plunging movement of the cutting tool along a first plunge vector and machining a region of the work piece near a tooth head of a first tooth flank of the tooth. A substantially transverse movement of the tool along a transverse vector is then executed to machine a region of the work piece near a tooth head of the second tooth flank of the tooth. A second plunging movement of the cutting tool along a vector path is then executed, to an end point of the second plunging movement that lies at a position of the work piece corresponding to the slot depth of the tooth gap to be fabricated. The cutting tool is rotated about an axis of rotation thereof during execution of these steps.

Method for producing conical or hypoid wheels using the plunging process

Bar cutter head () for receiving multiple bar cutters of a first bar cutter set, the bar cutter head () having n receptacle openings (-) for receiving n bar cutters of the first bar cutter set, which are all situated along a first concentric cutter head nominal circle having a first cutter head nominal radius (r). A first spiral-toothed bevel gear () can be milled in the single-indexing method in this configuration. The bar cutter head () additionally has m receptacle openings (-) for receiving m bar cutters of a second bar cutter set, which are all situated along a second concentric cutter head nominal circle having a second cutter head nominal radius (r). A second spiral-toothed bevel gear can be milled in the configuration having the m bar cutters. It is thus a universally-usable cutter head ().

Universally usable bar cutter head and use thereof

Method for the chip-removing machining of the tooth flanks of a gear wheel having n teeth and n tooth gaps on a multiaxis grinding machine. A grinding disc which may be dressed is used for the machining and one of the n tooth gaps after another is machined using this grinding disc in the single indexing method. The grinding disc plunges into each of the n tooth gaps up to a predefined plunging depth (T). If it is a freshly dressed grinding disc, the grinding disc is plunged using a predefined first restraint in relation to the normal predefined plunging depth into m of the n tooth gaps at the beginning of the machining of the gear wheel, to pre-machine these m tooth gaps (for this purpose: m=1, 2, or 3 and m&#x3c;n). The remaining n&#x2212;m tooth gaps are subsequently machined using the predefined plunging depth (T). The m tooth gaps are finally post-machined once again using the grinding disc, the grinding disc plunging into these m tooth gaps during this post-machining using a predefined second restraint of the normal predefined plunging depth.
