An encapsulated active substance for a manual detergent for hard surfaces comprises an essentially anhydrous active substance with at least one surfactant and at least one liquid polymer carrier encapsulated in a water-soluble or water-dispersible capsule, the active substance containing: less than 25 wt. % of carrier; at least one unbranched or branched, acryclic or cyclic, saturated or unsaturated alcohol with 1 to 10 carbon atoms and one or two primary, secondary or tertiary hydroxy groups and a carbon chain optionally having one or more &mdash;O&mdash; groups; or being free of glycerol. The encapsulated active substance can be used as a manual detergent for hard surfaces.

Encapsulated detergent

A method of cleaning hard surfaces by contact with an aqueous, liquid, multiphase, surfactant-containing cleaning composition having at least two continuous phases, one lower aqueous phase I and an upper aqueous phase II immiscible with the lower phase I, which can be temporarily converted into an emulsion by shaking and which cleaning composition contains no more than 50% by weight of nonionic surfactants, based on the total quantity of surfactants present.

Water-containing multiphase cleaning composition based on nonionic surfactant

The invention relates to liquid multiphase, essentially CFC-free detergents with at least two continuous phases. The detergents have at least one aqueous phase (I) and a non-aqueous liquid phase (II) that is immiscible with phase (I), and can be temporarily transformed into an emulsion by shaking. They also contain an anionic and/or non-ionic surfactant and are suitable for use in a method for cleaning hard surfaces, especially glass. According to said method, the inventive detergent is shaken to produce the temporary emulsion and applied to the surface to be cleaned in quantities of 1.5 to 10 g per m{circumflex over ( )}2, preferably by spraying. The surface is then cleaned, optionally by wiping with a soft, absorbent object.

Liquid multiphase detergents

Aqueous, liquid, multiphase, surfactant-containing cleaning composition having at least two continuous phases, having at least one lower aqueous phase I and an upper aqueous phase II immiscible with the lower phase I and which can be temporarily converted into an emulsion by shaking, wherein the composition contains one or more hydrophobic components and up to about 5% by weight of sodium hexametaphosphate. The compositions are useful as hard surface cleaners.

Aqueous multiphase detergents with immiscible phases

A stable, gel-form, shear-thinning cleaning composition is presented containing (a) 1 to 5 percent by weight of a polysaccharide, (b) 3 to 25 percent by weight of a C alkyl polyglycoside, and (c) 2 to 15 percent by weight of a perfume. The composition has a viscosity of 30,000 to 150,000 mPas as measured with a Brookfield RVT rotational viscometer with a Helipath spindle and TA spindle at 1 r.p.m. at 23&deg; C. The composition is a visually attractive, translucent or clear pseudoplastic gel and useful in the cleaning flush toilets.

Block-form cleaners for flush toilets which consist of at least two masses of different composition, one of the masses being at least partly surrounded by the other mass(es) and the surrounded mass containing an active substance in a concentration at least 1.3 times higher than in the surrounding mass. This distribution ensures that the active substance is more uniformly released over the useful life of the cleaning block.
