A display apparatus includes presence detection circuitry for detecting an individual in proximity to the display apparatus; a display for displaying video content and a user interface; a processor in communication with the user input circuitry, the display, and the search history database; and non-transitory computer readable media in communication with the processor that stores instruction code. The instruction code is executed by the processor and causes the processor to: a) determine, from the presence detection circuitry, a user in proximity of the display apparatus; b) determine one or more program types associated with the user; c) determine available programs that match the predicted one or more programs; and d) update the user interface to depict a listing of one or more of the available programs that match the predicted one or more programs.

Display apparatus with intelligent user interface

A display apparatus includes user input circuitry for receiving user commands and a display for displaying video content and a user interface. The video content includes metadata. The display apparatus includes a processor in communication with the user input circuitry and the display; and non-transitory computer readable media in communication with the processor that stores instruction code. The instruction code, when executed by the processor, causes the processor to receive, from the user input circuitry, a query regarding an image of the video content currently displayed on the display; and determine one or more objects of the image associated with the query based on the metadata. The processor updates the user interface to depict one or more controls, each control being associated with one of the determined one or more objects; and receives a selection of one of the controls. The processor then updates the user interface to depict information related to the selection.

A method for controlling display device operation including a personal dashboard, the method including: detecting, by a display device, a command to present a personal dashboard based on one or more selections of a displayed control interface of the display device; presenting, by the display device, the personal dashboard corresponding to an active profile in response to the command, wherein the personal dashboard includes: a user image of the active profile, a background image of the active profile, and a content pane including a plurality of graphical elements associated with content titles, the content titles are selected based on the active profile; detecting, by the display device, an input command within the personal dashboard; and updating, by the display device, a presentation output of the display device based on the input command.

Methods and device operation for control including a personal dashboard

The present disclosure relates to digital television processes and systems. In one embodiment, a method of controlling a display device includes presenting, by a display device, display content. The display device can receive a touch command indication, wherein the indication is associated with a remote control touch command exceeding a first threshold. The display device can also present a touch layer representation including content elements which are gradually presented based on the duration of the touch command received, determine that the touch command has exceeded a second threshold, and update presentation of the touch layer to display one or more graphical elements in response to the touch command exceeding the second threshold.

System and method for digital television operation and control

The present disclosure relates to digital television processes and systems. In one embodiment, a method of controlling a display device includes presenting, by a display device, display content. The display device can identify content titles associated with the display content, detection selection of a command, present a contextual overlay representation including content elements, detect a selection of the content overlay, and update presentation of the display device based on the selection of the content overlay.
