The disclosure refers to a device, for example a cartridge, a syringe or an autoinjector, which reduces the possibility of user error and provides an easy and automatic operation during mixing and/or reconstitution. The device is adapted such that activation of the device causes movement one of a first piston and a second piston in second chamber in an axial direction of the device, thereby moving the other one of the first piston and the second piston into the same axial direction of the device, opening a fluid communication path between the second chamber and a first chamber of the device, and expelling a second material from the second chamber into the first chamber via the fluid communication path. The disclosure is further directed to a respective mixing and/or reconstitution method.

Device and mixing and/or reconstitution method

A carbonated beverage maker includes a water reservoir, a carbon dioxide creation chamber, and a carbonation chamber. The water reservoir holds ice water and has a first impeller and a shroud surrounding the first impeller. The carbon dioxide creation chamber contains chemical elements and receives warm water. The chemical elements react with each other to create carbon dioxide when the warm water is introduced to the carbon dioxide creation chamber. The carbonation chamber is connected to the water reservoir and the carbon dioxide creation chamber. The carbonation chamber has a second impeller that includes a stem portion and blades. The stem portion and the blades define conduits therein. The blades create a low pressure region in a lower portion of the carbonation chamber such that carbon dioxide from the carbon dioxide creation chamber flows through the conduits to the low pressure region.

Drug delivery methods and systems

Systems and methods for mixing and/or reconstituting drugs are presented. A system may include an injection device, a vial, a needle, and a base station. The device has a chamber containing a first material. The vial has a chamber containing a second material. A drive unit of the base station moves the vial and/or the housing of the device relative to each other into an activated position. In the activated position, the needle is fluidly connected with the vial's chamber, and the drive unit is connected to a driver that moves the plunger in the axial direction of the device such that during fluid connection of the needle with the vial's chamber the first material is expelled from the device's chamber into the vial's chamber or the second material is expelled from the vial's chamber into the device's chamber.

A mixing and/or reconstitution system reduces the possibility of user error and provides a well mixed and/or reconstituted drug in a short time. The system comprises a device containing a first material within a first chamber, a housing, and a plunger, the plunger comprising a second chamber containing a second material, wherein one of the first and the second material is a fluid, and a movable element with an electric, magnetic, or paramagnetic characteristic, wherein the second chamber is initially closed; and a base unit comprising a recess for accommodation of the device, a control unit, and an electromagnetic unit which is adapted to produce an electromagnetic field penetrating the recess, wherein the control unit can electrically operate the electromagnetic unit such that the element contained in the second chamber moves in a direction of the device determined by the electromagnetic field and fluidly communicates the first and second chambers.

Some embodiments disclosed herein are directed to a pump assembly comprising a voice coil, a magnet and a diaphragm, wherein the voice coil is configured to move the diaphragm to pump a fluid through the pump assembly in response to a drive signal applied to the voice coil. Some embodiments disclosed herein are directed to an apparatus for applying negative pressure to a wound comprising a source of negative pressure configured to be coupled to a dressing, the source of negative comprising a voice coil actuator and a diaphragm, and a controller configured to produce a drive signal for the voice coil actuator.

A proton beam therapy system with a cantilever gantry system and a moving floor system. The moving floor system includes a flexible moving floor and a track that is disposed vertically and affixed to an external wall. The track includes a lateral portion providing a linear lateral path for the part of the moving floor and non-lateral portions providing a vertical path for the excess of the floor. The non-lateral portions may be located above or below the lateral portion. During rotation of the cantilever gantry and when the beam nozzle is positioned under the patient table, an opening is maintained in the floor through which the beam nozzle protrudes. A pump assembly includes a chamber, a compressible conduit along a periphery of the chamber, an elongated sun member within the chamber, and an elongated planet member arranged to orbit around the sun member. The sun member includes a first portion at one axial end having a gear and a second portion at the other axial end. The planet member includes a first portion at one axial end with a gear engaged with the gear of the sun member and a second portion at the other axial end configured to be engaged with a section of the compressible conduit to constrict the section. The first portion has a different texture from the second portion, and teeth of the gears on either the sun member or the planet member are retained in an axial direction by the second portion of the other of the sun member and planet member.
