A method employing traffic-aware vectoring for transceiving data between a network side entity defining a network side, and at least two nodes defining a subscriber side, via a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication channel, over a plurality of subcarrier frequencies, the method comprising: determining an allocation that allocates each of said subcarrier frequencies for preceding with either one of a steady-state precoder, and at least one dynamic precoder; monitoring downstream data traffic from said network side entity toward said at least two nodes; and constructing said at least one dynamic precoder to optimize a bit-rate of said downstream data traffic, according to said monitoring, and said allocation; wherein said at least one dynamic precoder is configured to change with varying said data traffic conditions.

Data traffic-aware dynamic vectoring

A method for precoding an information symbol conveying data for transmission between a plurality of transmitters and a plurality of receivers via a plurality of communication channels over a subcarrier frequency, the number of transmitters (N) is different than the number of active receivers (K) for that subcarrier frequency, the method comprising: receiving by said transmitters information pertaining to supportabilities of said receivers to decode non-linearly precoded data; determining a precoding scheme defining for which of said receivers said data to be transmitted by said transmitters shall be precoded using at least one of linear precoding and non-linear precoding, according to said supportabilities; constructing a signal by applying a reversible mapping to said information symbol, said reversible mapping includes elements each respectively associated with a particular one of said receivers, such that those said receivers supporting the decoding of said non-linearly precoded data are capable of reversing said reversible mapping to said information symbol, while for those said receivers not supporting the decoding of said non-linearly precoded data said information symbol is unaffected by said reversible mapping; constructing a precoder characterized by N&#x2260;K such that said precoder is configured to perform regularized generalized inversion of a communication channel matrix.

System and method unifying linear and nonlinear precoding for transceiving data

An interpolation filter for interpolating a digital signal includes a cascade of template filters, each having an identical template transfer function A(z), which is arranged to receive and filter an input sequence representing the digital signal sampled at an input sampling rate. Ancillary circuitry is coupled to the cascade so as to produce first and second phase outputs. A multiplexer is arranged to multiplex the phase outputs in order to generate an output sequence having an output sampling rate equal to twice the input sampling rate.
