A cable assembly is disclosed. The cable assembly includes a printed circuit board (PCB) including a plurality of alternating ground pads and groups of signal pads, and a cable comprising a plurality of spaced apart differential pairs. Each differential pair defines a stripped section and an unstripped section, and the stripped sections terminate at corresponding signal pads of a corresponding group of signal pads of the PCB. An electrically conductive shield includes a cover portion disposed on and covering at least a portion of the unstripped sections of the insulated conductors and a plurality of spaced apart walls. Each wall is disposed between the stripped sections of the insulated conductors of two adjacent differential pairs and extending from the cover portion to, and making electrical contact with, a corresponding ground pad disposed between the groups of signal pads corresponding to the adjacent differential pairs.

Cable assembly with crosstalk barrier

An optical ferrule configured to move along a mating direction to mate with a mating optical ferrule. The optical ferrule includes an attachment portion for receiving and securing one or more optical waveguides. First and second engagement portions are formed integrally with the optical ferrule and spaced apart from each other along the mating direction. First and second engagement portions are formed integrally with the mating optical ferrule and spaced apart from each other along the mating direction. When the optical ferrule mates with the mating optical ferrule, the first and second engagement portions of the optical ferrule engage the respective second and first engagement portions of the mating optical ferrule. The engagement of the engagement portions of the optical ferrules prevents each of the optical ferules from moving relative to the other optical ferrule along at least mutually orthogonal first and second directions orthogonal to the mating direction.

Optical connector assembly

An optical connector assembly includes first and second optical ferrules. Each of the first and second optical ferrules includes a front portion extending forwardly from a rear portion. The rear portion includes a top side and a bottom side. The bottom side of the rear portion defines a recessed portion. The first and second optical ferrules mate with each other such that the front portion of each of the first and second ferrules is disposed in the recessed portion of the other one of the first and second ferrules. Discrete retainers are assembled to opposite ends of the mated first and second ferrules. Each of the retainers defines a resilient portion resiliently forcing the front portion of one of the first and second mated ferrules against the other one of the first and second optical ferrules.

A method may include forming a metal pattern in a metal layer of a fabricated integrated circuit device and under a target bump of the fabricated integrated circuit device, wherein the metal pattern has an inner shape and an outer field such that a void space in the metal layer is created between the inner shape and the outer field and approximately centering the void space on an outline of an under-bump metal formed under the target bump with a keepout distance from the inner shape and the outer field on either side of the outline such that the metal minimizes local variations in mechanical stress on underlying structures within the fabricated integrated circuit device.

An optical connector includes a housing having a resilient member and an optical ferrule. The optical ferrule includes a plurality of attachment areas for receiving and securing a plurality of optical waveguides and a light redirecting side for changing a direction of light received from an optical waveguide. The optical connector is configured such that when an optical waveguide is received and secured in any of the attachment areas and light from the optical waveguide propagates along an optical path, the resilient member is not in the optical path. When the optical ferrule mates with a mating optical ferule, the resilient member is resiliently deformed to resiliently force the optical ferrule against the mating optical ferrule.

Optical connectors and optical ferrules

An electrical cable () including a plurality of substantially parallel insulated conductors () is described. Each insulated conductor () includes an electrically conductive inner conductor () co-extensive and covered with an insulating layer (). At least a portion of a periphery of each insulated conductor () may be encompassed by a substantially co-extensive electrically conductive shield (). For each insulated conductor (), portions of the insulating layer () are removed from the top side () of the cable () to expose a portion of the inner conductor () of the insulated conductor (). The insulated conductor () is adapted to mate with an electrically conductive mating conductor () at the exposed portion () of the inner conductor ().

Electrical cable

An electrical contact includes a longitudinal first body portion, a longitudinal second body portion, a terminal portion, and a contact portion. The longitudinal first body portion has a terminal end, a first transition end opposite the terminal end, and a major surface generally lying in a first plane. The longitudinal second body portion has a contact end, a second transition end opposite the contact end, and a major surface generally lying in a second plane intersecting the first plane. The contact end is distal to the first transition end. The terminal portion extends from the first body portion at the terminal end. The contact portion extends from the second body portion at the contact end.

Electrical contact and connector

A ribbon cable with a plurality of spaced apart substantially parallel insulated conductors. The parallel insulated conductors extend along a length of the cable and arranged along a width of the cable. Each insulated conductor has a central conductor surrounded by a structured insulative material formed directly onto the central conductor along substantially the entire length of the cable. The structured insulative material has a plurality of ridges extending from the central conductor along different azimuthal directions. Each pair of adjacent ridges define an angle &#x3b8; there between greater than about 10 degrees.

The disclosure generally relates to shielded transmission lines, electrical systems including the shielded transmission lines, cables using shielded transmission lines, and electrical connectors using shielded transmission lines. In particular, the present disclosure provides transmission lines that include floating shields capable of isolating interference between conductors that can result in reduced crosstalk.

Connectors providing solderless contact between conductors and a plurality of contact pads disposed on a substrate are disclosed. Connectors accommodating cables including pairs of insulated conductors are disclosed. Connector assemblies including frames for reversibly mounting the connectors with substrates having a plurality of contact pads are also disclosed.

Examples of electrical connectors that incorporate electromagnetic interference (EMI) absorbing materials are described. In one example, an electrical connector includes a first pair of conductors, a second pair of conductors, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) absorbing material at least partially separating the first pair of conductors from the second pair of conductors. Each of the first and second pairs of conductors defines one of a differential pair or a signal conductor/ground pair. The EMI absorbing material may be configured to attenuate, primarily by absorption, an electromagnetic field generated due to transmission of electrical signals via one of the first pair and second pair of conductors to reduce the electromagnetic inference from the electromagnetic field on the other of the first pair and second pair of conductors.

A wireless connector includes a plurality of printed circuit boards (PCBs) () disposed within a housing of the electronic system. Each PCB comprises a plurality of transceivers () configured to wirelessly transmit and receive modulated carrier signals (). Each transceiver in the system is configured to receive signals transmitted by every other transceiver in the system.

Various high speed shielded cables are used in combination with a connector assembly. The connector assembly includes a plurality of electrical terminations in electrical contact with the conductor sets of the cable at a first end of the cable, the electrical terminations configured to make electrical contact with corresponding mating electrical terminations of a mating connector and at least one housing configured to retain the plurality of electrical terminations in a planar, spaced apart configuration.
