Disclosed is a lubricating oil composition comprising (a) a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity having a kinematic viscosity at 100&#xb0; C. in a range of about 2 to about 50 mm/s; (b) a hydrocarbyl succinimide dispersant; (c) a borated hydrocarbyl succinimide dispersant; and (d) a hydrocarbyl succinimide post-treated with a post-treating agent selected from the group consisting of an organic carbonate, an epoxide, a lactone, a hydroxyaliphatic carboxylic acid, and combinations thereof.

This invention encompasses lubricating oil compositions comprising a base oil, a biodiesel fuel and a Mannich condensation product. A method for inhibiting viscosity increase in a diesel engine fueled at least in part with a biodiesel fuel is also described.

A lubricating oil composition having a sulfur content of up to about 0.4 wt. % and a sulfated ash content of up to about 0.5 wt. % as determined by ASTM D874 is disclosed which comprises (a) a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity; (b) at least one oil-soluble or dispersed oil-stable boron-containing compound having greater than 400 ppm of boron, based upon the total mass of the composition; and (c) at least one oil-soluble or dispersed oil-stable molybdenum-containing compound having at least about 1100 ppm of molybdenum, based upon the total mass of the composition; wherein the lubricating oil composition has a ratio of sulfur to molybdenum of less than or equal to about 4:1.

Lubricating oil compositons

Disclosed are methods and lubricant compositions for reducing wear in internal combustion engines lubricated with a low phosphorous content lubricating oil. The lubricant compositions of this invention comprise a synergistic combination of a dispersed, hydrated, alkali metal borate and at least one phosphorous-containing compound wherein the total phosphorous employed in the composition is no more than about 0.08 weight percent based on the total weight of the composition.

Disclosed herein is a lubricating oil composition comprising a) major amount of a base oil of lubricating viscosity; b) from about 0.1 to 10 wt % of an overbased alkaline earth metal alkyl aryl sulfonate detergent having a total base number (TBN) of about 25 to 500; c) from about 0.02 to 10 wt % of a oxymolybdenum-containing complex of a nitrogen-containing compound; d) from about 0.1 to 5 wt % of a friction modifier; and e) from about 0.2 to 10 wt % of an antioxidant selected from the group consisting of a diphenylamine type, a sulfurized ester-containing compound and mixtures thereof; wherein the total concentration of the oxymolybdenum-containing complex and antioxidant must be at least 1.3 wt %, based on the total weight of the lubricating oil composition and wherein the phosphorus content of the total lubricating oil composition is 0.08 wt % or less, based on the total weight of the lubricating oil composition.
