The invention relates to a method for forming a three-dimensional object by fused filament fabrication comprising the step of selectively dispensing a polymer composition containing a semi-crystalline copolyamide in accordance with the shape of a portion of a three-dimensional object, characterized that the semi-crystalline copolyamide comprises: a) At least 70 wt. % of aliphatic monomeric units derived from i. Aminoacid A, or ii. diamine B and diacid C, and b) At least 0.5 wt. % of further monomeric units derived from a cyclic monomer, wherein wt. % is with respect to the total weight of the semi-crystalline copolyamide. The invention relates to a co-extruded film comprising a sealing layer of low density polyethylene and a skin layer, wherein the skin layer comprises a copolyamide which comprises: &#x2022;At least 75 wt % monomeric units derived from caprolactam; &#x2022;Between 5 to 25 wt % monomeric units derived from a diamine and terephthalic acid; wherein the weight percentage is with respect to the total weight of copolyamide in the skin layer. The invention also relates to a process for preparing such a film, as well as applications of the film.

Co-extruded film

Processes are disclosed for preparing biaxially oriented film by forming a polymer melt of a composition which includes at least 50 wt % with respect to the total amount of the composition of a copolyamide having at least 75 wt. % monomeric units derived from either (i) caprolactam or (ii) hexamethylene diamine and adipic acid, each of which further includes units derived from diamines X and/or diacids Y and/or aminoacids Z in a summed amount of between 0.2 to 25 wt %, followed sequentially by casting and quenching a film of the polymer melt, MD-stretching of the film, TD-stretching the film, cooling the film after TD-stretching, and heat setting the biaxially oriented film. The resulting biaxially oriented film exhibits attributes suitable for use as food packaging.

Process to prepare biaxially oriented film

The invention relates to a polymer composition suitable for high-heat application comprising: a. At least one polymer 1 having a solubility parameter &#x3b4;P1; b. A thermo-releasable substance being a liquid at 200&#xb0; C. and having a solubility parameter &#x3b4;sub in an amount of at least 0.1 wt % with respect to the total amount of composition; and wherein the amount of thermo-releasable substance is in the range from 0.5 wt % to 70 wt % with respect to the polymer 1; wherein &#x394;=(&#x3b4;sub&#x2212;&#x3b4;P1)is in the range from 0.5 to 24.0 and wherein the solubility parameter is calculated by the software package Synthia, Materials Studio v.6.0.0 &#xa9;2011, based on the method by J. Bicerano, Prediction of Polymer Properties, Marcel Dekker, 3rd Ed, 2002, ISBN 0-8247-0821-0; Chapter 5, and in which the E-modulus of the composition as measured according to method ISO 527-1 at 200&#xb0; C. is at least 50 MPa. The invention also relates to personal care devices and hair-straighteners comprising this polymer composition.

Polymer composition for high-heat application comprising thermo-releasable substance

The present invention relates to a high-heat-delivery device suitable for use in an hair straightener, a hair curling iron or an ironing apparatus and suitable for heat transfer to a substrate by direct contact with said substrate, comprising at least one element (A) having a heat transfer contact surface area and at least one element (B) having a heat transfer contact surface, wherein the element (A) comprises a thermoconductive thermoplastic polymer composition comprising at least one polymer and a thermoconductive additive and wherein element (B) comprises a thermoplastic polymer composition comprising a polymer and at least one thermo-releasable substance. The invention relates to a stretched polymer film made of a polyamide composition comprising a semi-crystalline semi-aromatic polyamide (PPA), wherein the PPA consists of repeat units derived from aromatic dicarboxylic acid comprising at least 80 mole % of terephthalic acid, relative to the total amount of aromatic dicarboxylic acid; and diamine comprising at least 5 mole % 1,4-butanediamine and at least 5 mole % 1,6-hexanediamine, relative to the total amount of diamine, the combined amount of 1,4-butanediamine and 1,6-hexanediamine being at least 60 mole % relative to the total amount of diamine; and 0-2 mole % of other monomeric units, relative to the total amount of aromatic dicarboxylic acid, diamine and other monomeric units. The invention further relates to a process for preparing the polyamide film by melt extrusion and stretching of the film.

This invention relates to a process for the preparation of an antiballistic article, the method comprising: a) Providing a transparent uniaxially stretched polymeric film with at least one layer I comprising a semi-crystalline thermoplastic polymer A and at least one layer II comprising an amorphous or semi-crystalline thermoplastic polymer B, of which polymer B has a glass transition temperature less than the melting temperature of polymer A if polymer B is amorphous or of which polymer B has a melting temperature less than the melting temperature of polymer A if polymer B is semi-crystalline; b) Stacking at least two of the uniaxially stretched polymeric films of a) at an angle a of between 45&#xb0; and 135&#xb0;, such that the films are in contact with each subsequent film through at least one layer II, to form an assembly; c) Compressing the thus formed assembly at a temperature above the glass transition temperature of polymer B if polymer B is amorphous, or above the melting temperature of polymer B if polymer B is semi-crystalline, and below the melting temperature of polymer A, to obtain an haze of at most 50% and having an energy absorption for 17 grain FSP according to the STANAG 2920 standard of at least 12 J/(kg/m). Process for foil ripening of cheese

The invention relates to a method for the preparation of a transparent antiballistic article. The method comprises providing a plurality of anisotropic polymeric film layers, stacking the film layers to form an assembly and compressing the thus formed assembly at a temperature and pressure sufficient to consolidate the film layers, whereby the temperature is not more than 50&#xb0; C. below the melting temperature of the polymer, the pressure is at least 80 MPa and sufficiently high to obtain an optical transparency according of at least 50% transmission. The invention also relates to a ballistic resistant article having an energy absorption for 17 grain FSP according to the STANAG 2920 standard of at least 10 J/(kg/m) and an optical transparency according of at least 50% transmission.

The invention relates to a polymer film made of a polyamide composition comprising at least 80 weight percentage (wt. %) of a semi-crystalline semi-aromatic polyamide with a melting temperature (Tm) of at least 270&#xb0; C., wherein the wt. % is relative to the total weight of the polymer composition, wherein the polymer film has an average coefficient of thermal expansion in plane in the temperature range of 20&#xb0; C.-Tg, measured in plane with the method according to ASTM D969-08, of at most 40 ppm/K. The said film can be made from a polyamide moulding composition comprising said polyamide by film casting followed by biaxial stretching. The film has properties suitable for carrier films in flexible printed circuit boards.
