According to the present invention, a part of the coolant is withdrawn from the cooling cycle and heated in the same main heat exchanger () in which at least a part of the refrigerant is cooled and heated in the Brayton process. A first proportion of the liquid nitrogen is cooled in an open cooling system and a second proportion is cooled in a closed cooling system using one or more cooling units. The open cooling system and closed cooling system are used for cooling of a power supply having a first end and a second end. The open cooling system is arranged at the first end and the closed cooling system is arranged at the second end. Cooling power is provided in a first time period as a first, smaller amount of total cooling power and in a second time period as a second, higher amount of total cooling power. A first proportion of the amount of total cooling power is provided by means of the open cooling system and a second proportion is provided by means of the closed cooling system. The first proportion in the first time period is set to a lower value than in the second time period.

A method for producing electrical energy in a combined energy generation plant which comprises an air treatment unit and a power station unit is proposed. In a first operating mode, air is liquefied to form an air liquefaction product and, in a second operating mode, an air liquefaction product is converted into a gaseous or supercritical state, in which said product is introduced into the power station unit and is used for producing electrical energy. In a third operating mode, air is condensed in the air treatment unit and used in the power station unit directly for producing electrical energy. It is envisaged that, in the first operating mode, the air is cooled to several temperature levels by two liquid coolants and the air liquefaction product is correspondingly heated. The invention relates to a method and a device for generating electrical energy in a combined system consisting of a power plant and an air handling system. The power plant comprises a first gas expansion unit connected to a generator. The air handling system comprises an air compression unit, a heat exchange system, and a fluid tank. In a first operating mode, feed air is compressed in the air compression unit and cooled in the heat exchange system. A storage fluid is generated from the compressed and cooled feed air and is stored as cryogenic fluid in fluid tank. In a second operating mode, cryogenic fluid is removed from fluid tank and is vaporized, or pseudo-vaporized, at superatmospheric pressure. The gaseous high pressure storage fluid generated is expanded in the gas expansion unit. Gaseous natural gas is introduced into the heat exchange system () to be liquefied.

A high-pressure process flow () is brought into indirect heat exchange with the oxygen flow in the main heat exchanger () and then depressurized (), wherein the depressurized high-pressure flow () is introduced at least partially in the liquid state into the distillation column system for nitrogen-oxygen separation. A gaseous circuit nitrogen flow () is drawn from the high-pressure column and at least partially () compressed in a circuit compressor (). A first sub-flow () of the circuit nitrogen flow is removed from the circuit compressor (), cooled down in the main heat exchanger (), at least partially condensed in the bottom evaporator () of the high-pressure column () in indirect heat exchange with the bottom liquid of the high-pressure column (), and conducted back into the distillation column system for nitrogen-oxygen separation. A second sub-flow of the circuit nitrogen flow is branched off upstream and/or downstream of the circuit compressor and/or from an intermediate stage of the circuit compressor at a product pressure (P, P, P, P, P) and obtained as a compressed nitrogen product (). The circuit compressor () is designed as a hot compressor and is driven by means of external energy.

Method and device for obtaining compressed oxygen and compressed nitrogen by the low-temperature separation of air

A method and device for generating electrical energy in a combined system of power plant, cold storage system and air compression system. The air compression system has a primary air compressor for generating a primary compressed air flow at a first pressure level. The power plant has a combustion unit which operates at a second pressure level and generates a combustion gas from which electrical energy is generated. The cold storage system has means for generating cold from compressed air, means for storing cold thus produced and means for generating a compressed air flow at the second pressure level using the stored cold. In a first operating mode (charging mode), a first compressed air flow is introduced from the air compression system into the cold storage system to charge the cold reservoir. In a second operating mode (discharging mode), the first compressed air flow generated in the primary air compressor, is introduced into the cold storage system to discharge the cold reservoir and to generate a third compressed air flow at the second pressure level, which is introduced into the combustion unit. The air compression system has a first booster for boosting compressed air compressed in the primary air compressor to the second pressure level. In a third operating mode (normal mode), the entire primary compressed air flow generated in the primary air compressor is boosted in the first booster to the second compressed air level and introduced into the combustion unit.

The disclosed process and apparatus provide for air separation and steam generation in a combined system that comprises a steam system () and an air separation plant (), wherein a feed air stream () is introduced into a multistage air compression system () having n stages (n&#x3e;=3) and compressed to a first high pressure that is equal to the final pressure of the air compression system, and, at this final pressure, is introduced () into the air separation plant ().
